Hey Guys,
Looking for something to store/play MP3s, store/retrieve pics from my digital camera, and store other files such as books i can listen to. IPODs seem good, but overpriced and not enough options. Anyone know anything out there that is cheaper and better? The IPOD mini 4gig is a whopping 341,000won, which is pretty expensive for only 4 gigs. Your input would be much appreciated. I don't need it to have a video player on it or anything. I just think something that meets these requireements would be very useful for travelling!
Thanks again!

Hmmmm, about an iPod?
I travel about 4 hours on Korean public transport daily, couldn't live without it. |

| you can get a dell digital jukebox with 15 gigs for around $200 in the u.s., so i'd recommend that if you can find some way to get it to korea. |

Archos makes a product that does pretty much everything you need and more.
www.archos.com if you want more info. |

| Looking forward to reading Archos vs. Iriver reviews- there doesn't appear to be any out yet. Please post a link if you come across one. |

Archos site said 600 pounds. Not sure in dollars.
That Archos was cool. Specially if it can record video files from the internet.
Would like to find that puppy in Seoul. |

Do a search on this site, I recently posted several reviews comparing the two players already on this thread. |

Archos AV500 series is coming soon. Google it, you will be impressed. Av420 is okay but don't go for the av440 or av480. BTW, Archos isn't available in Korea. |

Liking the ideas of what you guys have posted, but don't want to spend more than $300. The Iriver & Archos look awesome, but I don't want a video player, just a beefed up MP3 player that can store files and take pics off my digi. Anything else that you may have seen or heard of?
It's looking that I might have to give up and get the IPOD mini from Japan at 280,000won compared to here at 341,000won. I'd like something else that's better though for a cheaper price.
Aiiish.
Cheers again for the help! |

600 pounds is inaccurate unless you buy directly from Archos. Do a search. You can even buy an AV480 for less than 500 pounds.
By the way, finding a suped-up Mp3 player with USB-on-the-go is going to be extremely hard as the video component of these harddrive players is quickly becoming a standard developmental direction for this market niche. Only the new players will have USB-on-the-go and all of them will be offering video. |

I would snap one of these up in a second if they had recording and encoding capabilities for FM, line-in, and video. This is probably the biggest difference between them and the Archos lines. I hope that the Archos AV500 line is all that the rumour mills are making it out to be. I wish they would set the release date already as well! |
