Well folks...never thought I would say this, but it's true...

Koreans cheat a lot online.

I've been playing Counter-Strike:Source for a couple of months now (since HL2 was around) and playing on Korean servers always nets at least one cheater per server per hour.

Usually it's the speed cheat, where they can race around at speeds too fast to be nailed, but sometimes the wall hack (shooting through walls) shows itself.

I have tried many overseas servers to see if this is happening there as well, but I haven't seen it yet.

Now here is the interesting bit:

A guy came on with the speed cheat. I posted "speed hack" (most Korean players know this) and waited for him to get booted. (My wife's system types in Han-gul in the game, my system does not)

I got a reply that said "there are no admins on the Korean servers."

So, I persistently posted "speed hack" and "why do you cheat?" (it was really starting to gat me angry...it went on for like 15 minutes with no one on either team getting upset)

I was booted.

So, my conclusion is that Koreans won't boot Koreans for cheating, but will boot people speaking English for calling them on it. That, and they lied about there being nothing that could be done about it.

Don't want to judge here...these are the facts.

Disappointing to say the least, especially when the overseas servers have a really high ping, making them almost unplayable. The Korean servers have a nice low ping, but cheaters abound and one can't say anything. The only recourse is to disconnect and try another server, but what goes around, comes around....

So, next week, I am going to host my own games. If anyone is interested in a round of CS, post here. Cheaters will be kicked and IP banned, so no worries!

If you can't type in hangul, then can you put the "you are using a hack" in hangul into the clipboard and paste whenever it arises?

No arguments here. I'd rather have a cheese grater taken to my sensitive areas than play online with Koreans. The absolute worst people to play a game with. As soon as I see any signs of Koreanness on a server, I'm gone.

But a better question would be why are you running/playing on a server that doesn't have Punkbuster enabled? Cuts down on the retardation by a country mile.

Yes....good idea.

However, the point being that someone using a hack is painfully obvious, as when you die in CS, you can flip between living characters POV, and you can see the game through the cheaters' eyes, racing around at 100MPH.

All can see it. No one says anything.

Even in-game, you can see someone flying around so fast, the ping can't keep up....they are warping around (the character frozen in one stance, yet moving incredibly fast) or just beaming in and out in different areas of the map as the next ping re-draws their character.

So...yes, typing in Han-gul may stop me being booted (I will just exit anyways) but it doesn't change these facts;

- They don't care if others cheat
- Many people do cheat
- They decide who to boot based on language, not cheating
- They lie about having no admin and thus absolve any responsibility for cheaters

I am starting down a road I really don't want to go down. I see Korean "win at all costs" behavior while driving, online gaming and in the workplace. Really, it seems so prevalent.

I don't want to judge them, but it's always in my face.

My wife worked for a year on a project/competition for the board of education, in which teachers prepare an in-depth study for educational purposes. In her school, 3 teachers prepared the report in 3 weeks, fabricating all statistics and numbers, even padding their bibliography by going to the Seoul libraries and copying books.

Driving, I can see people go into passing lanes and on shoulders, only to re-merge by cutting others off, 4 car-lengths ahead. Anything to get a few meters up.

They cheat a lot online.

They jump in lines. They push through lines to be first or next.

Hmm....if it were just occasional, or isolated, it really wouldn't get under my skin. However, it consistent.

Sorry all....a bad rant...

Well...I'm off to seek forgiveness for judgement, and I really don't want to do it....but wow....it's tough.

Hank, if I were running the server, you bet it would have PB running....theirs don't and I have already outlined why I play on Korean servers.

Heh, well buyer beware. This isn't something you're going to change, it's just a part of their national character. It's also why people worldwide avoid playing with Koreans.

Personally I'd rather just not play or suffer with a high ping than play with Korean players.

I'm not suprised at this thread.
I tell my university students that if they plagorize in anyway they will get a zero(25% of grade) and not be given a second chance.
Guess what? About 30% of them do so, and when called on it will either deny it or apologize and ask for a second chance.

Hmmm, you see I'd worry about the Koreans cheating at CS if I weren't so bad at it............. Frankly I die just as fast regardless, usually to someone I didn't see headshotting me from behind. Sad

Yeah....I am no pro either...I usually break even on kills/killed.

I just really dislike cheaters.

I didn't want to turn this into a Korea-bashing thread at all. There are still way more clean players on the Korean servers than cheaters. I just needed a childish rant.... Embarassed

I will post when I make a server...let's have a n00b game.... Razz

Indeed, some people have an odd idea of what "winning" means.
