Hey smokers, fellow addict will be in Korea next week and I'm wondering -what's the price of cigarettes in S. Korea? Are any brands comparable to Canadian: Players, No. 7 etc.?
P.S. the health nazies are now trying to ban smoking OUTSIDE on the grounds of public buildings here in Victoria! |

Um...
Smokes are dirt cheap, and you can smoke them anywhere. By dirt cheap, I mean $2.50 U.S. per pack. |

Cheap but the strongest ones you will find are 10mg I believe. Which is a hell of a lot weaker than some of the canadian brands. So you might find your dose downgraded. Bring some for your new boss, he'll almost certainly appreciate some exotic cigarettes.
If you want to quit though check out http://www.whyquit.com .. those long flights aren't fun without smokes if you're a smoker haha.

Get one of those nicotine inhalers for the flight, they work well!
Cigarettes are very cheap here, though the government is increasing taxes to try and cut down the amount people smoke. You don't want to be smoking strong ones anyway Dunhill are probably the best smoke in Korea though you can get Marlboro reds or light easily. |

Banning smoking everywhere sucks. Persecution is not the way to stop the number of smokers in the country. The cost of a pack and the petty bans everywhere will never thwart an addict.
What they should be doing is stopping cigarette advertising. People start smoking for a reason. |

Cigarettes being so cheap here make it hard to quit... Lasted a month...
Some of the really cheap lesser known brands are quite strong... Myself, I go for the ultra light cigs...
Anyone tried the 4,000 Dunhill's (top leaf)?... A good smoke... Still relatively cheap, yet, I can't being myself to pay almost double everything else... |

| I saw those too at the Osaka duty free last time i was on my visa run. They were all out of blues so I got a carton of yellows but those are long gone. Ah well.... |

For anyone from Vancouver:
I saw on last night's news that City Council is considering a smoking ban on all outdoor pattios: restaurants, bars, pubs.  |

Fascist control freaks. I'm a brit and I smoke and I'm fed up with how idiots go on about smoking costing so much to the taxpayer when smokers are the biggest taxpayers around, the NHS would be bust without the incredible revenue that smoking generates for the government, if it was as bad as they say it is it would be like crack cocaine and incredibly illegal.
If smoking was banned in the UK everyone would moan about the fact that the schools are understaffed, the NHS has gone, petrol has gone up to 5 quid a litre, income tax has doubled etc.
Smokers have rights too. If you dont like it then move somewhere else, like the non smoking section in the bar or wherever.
Governments are complete control freaks these days. |

Brits in Korea should thank their lucky stars that they're smoking in Korea rather than the UK. I think cartons in the UK are around 50-55 pounds now. Obscene.
Bootlegged ones are 30-40 pounds each in general, which is better. 
Aside from the North Korean smokes that are coming in and being reportedly sold in Dongdaemun, are there any American or UK brands on offer in Korea; and, if so, does anyone know what they sell for per carton?

Cigarette smoke really gets to me sometimes - to the extent I can't actually see. I actually don't mind smoky bars - I can go in, know what I'm getting, and leave if it gets too bad. But restaurants with smoking sections (unless the smoking section is in a sealed, ventilated room) aren't much fun at all. I don't in principle argue the smoker's right to smoke, but not if it means the smoke is going to come anywhere near me, even if I'm in the non-smoking section - at that point any individual rights to smoke become null and void, and said smoker can sod off home to do whatever they like in the privacy and comfort of their own home, as far as I'm concerned. |

You guys are talking about smoking as though you have discovered the cure for cancer. Even if you haven't, here are the top 10 reasons to keep on puffing:
10. That lighter comes in handy for birthday candles.
9. Your ex-spouse wanted you to quit and you won't give him/her the satisfaction.
8. The occasional holes in your clothes give you a needed excuse to shop
7. Philip Morris needs that money more than you do.
6. Those extra wrinkles give you that "mature" look.
5. The smell on your coat makes it easy to pick it out of a pile at a party.
4. If not for the smoking you'd be perfect, and nobody likes a perfect person.
3. If your sense of smell came back you'd have to do something about that litter box.
2. You wouldn't get any exercise at all if you didn't run outside the building every hour for a cigarette.

I concur. Smokers should be polite. I always have been.
For anyone interested, Marlboros are not the same here as the are in America. They're almost entirely different, in a less satisfying way.
