Ok, I have had a few "issues" discussed in my classes of late that left me wondering. I'm sure you'll be able to guess them from the questions I pose below but if you have a sec, quickly answer them k.
1-Do you take you shoes off in your house? (has it changed being in Korea "if" you live here?)
2-Do you know your blood type? (If yes, how/when did you learn it?)
3-Where are you from? (Just country and maybe region will do)
*i have a few theories about this and am hoping to get a small discussion going, but basically I want to see how the answers differ. |

Yes. We take our shoes off at home in Hong Kong and we change into our slippers in the UK as soon as we reach the kitchen, the kitchen is the first room from the hall. Although mum won't scream at me if I wear my shoes upstairs.. only if there's mud on them!

Yes. But not until two years ago when I had my blood tested for hep B in preparation of getting pregnant.

1. always took my shoes off in the house and am a little less likely to do so here, since I don't have to trudge through snow and mud as often.
2. Yes I know my blood type because giving blood was an easy way to dodge French class in high school.

Ya, I always take off my shoes. Did in Canada too. Here I sleep on the floor so it'd be bad news if there was dirt from the street all over the place.
I do know my blood type... have been a blood donor since highschool.

1-Yes, I do and yes, it has changed since being here. At my house, we didn't have to take off our shoes. This might have been different if I'd actually grown up in Alaska rather than moving there as a teenager. In Alaska it's bad form to wear your shoes inside someone else's house because most of the streets (I'm talking about outside the 3 or 4 'cities') are dirt so your shoes are pretty muddy. More than getting someone's house dirty, if you wear your shoes inside you are saying to your hosts that their house is so dirty you don't want to take your shoes off and have your socks get dirty.
Anyway, this is one Asian/Alaska tradition that I'll maintain no matter where I live next.
2-No. 'Though I've wondered at times...
3-Northwestern USA (Washington/Alaska). |

Always did back home if the place was carpeted. Since I havent seen a carpet in my apartment I usually wear my shoes if they are clean.(not lately)
2-Do you know your blood type? (If yes, how/when did you learn it?)
Yes I do. Red I found that out when I cut off the tip of my thumb Positive type O

1. do i take off my shoes in the house?
Didn't before living in korea, got into the habit there, married husband (korean) who really prefers shoes off (although on occasion if i am in a hurry they stay on) so i take them off. ALso we rent and if the carpet is messed up and stained, guess who loses part of their deposit? we do and with a baby crawling in the apartment makes sense to have a clean floor.
2. Found out my blood type after moving to korea. Got sick of my students asking me my blood type and not knowing. went and got a simple blood test done. Plus, i figured it might not hurt to know in general the type.
3. Have lived in 6 states in the US (currently in CA)but if you hear me speak you would say i am from the Great Lakes area. |
