I'm new to this forum and am just wondering if i'm alone in experiencing a rather bizzare ritual. If any of the kindy boys at my school need to use the bathroom, the teachers whip down their pants and let them pee in a bottle! This occurs despite the fact that the bathroom is directly opposite the classroom. Seeing this bottle slowly fill up during the day is bad enough but one day I actually saw a teacher flicking a wee boys tadger to get rid of the drips! Surprised Has anyone else had the misfortune of being witness to such a thing?!!!

You needn't teach kindie to see this spectacle. Often on the street, near department stores, wherever, you'll see moms and grandmoms bottling their precious little gem's run-off. Actually, if they've a bottle, you're lucky - sometimes they just use the sidewalk.

Interestingly, it's a boy thing. They're quite proud to show off their sons' gojus - proud that their sons *have* gojus, which is why you see so many naked boy pictures in front of photography studios (and not so many naked girl pictures). So there's an element of show-off there.

Just another in a long list of reasons why I won't raise a kid here.

Sadly, there is no ritual for the bottle of pee! It just sits there brewing for most of the day until one of the teachers decides it should be emptied! Ewwww!

Lemon, I had noticed a few of the nudey baby pictures. Back home any photographer taking pictures of naked babies would be promptly arrested. I don't think any would be as stupid as to display them to the general public though! Only in Korea!

I KNOW! I'm not quite sure how to approach the subject though. I was assuming it was just the done thing. I was quite distressed a couple of times though when there were no korean teachers about Confused There was no way I was going to hold a bottle so a wee guy could piss in it! I took them to the bathroom but they gave me blank looks and just stood there! I had to actually lift them over to the pan and hold them there 'till they finished! Another day in the life of a kindy teacher in Korea!

I know this is true, but it is just a baby - nothing pornographic. My parents have lots of pictures of me and my siblings naked until we were around 2-3 years old. No big deal.

My sister took some pics of her kids and got them developed at walmart and ended up talking to the police for a few hours when she picked them up. Also ended up with a visit from social services.

Anyhow I'm happy to be in Korea and I have some bathtime pics of my daughter that are very cute. No porn.

My parents also have plenty bath-shots of me and my sisters! Embarassed However, as a result of society, not many people back home would risk taking these photos to be developed now. We live in a sad world and it's nice that Korea doesn't seem to have these problems on a large scale.

I wouldn't suggest there's anything pornographic about it either. I was highlighting possible cultural reasons they freely display in public their sons' genitals (and not those of their daughters).

everyone has a digital camera or camcorder now anyhow so bath pics are still going to happen just not at the photo shop any more.

The parents being proud of little juniors wee wee I think explains the nude baby pictures. It is true that western families will have nude pics of the children but they are what I call impomptu or not very planned. Little Susie is running around the house with out any clothes. In a sense it is cute and enduring so snap a few pictures. Little Johnny is nude in the bathtub and you want to rember this moment so take a picture.

Here in Korea it is so much different it is planned. Of the pics of nude Korean Children two thirds are photo studio which is so far from spur of the moment. One studio photo should a one year (around there) old standing and taking a pee and him looking at it while he was doing it. Peeing on the studio floor. This pic was outside on the street advertising the studio. This was poster size roughly. This is not the normal western snap shot of children nude in the backyard.
As to the other one third they are planned too. I was visting a students house and there on the mantel was a pic of the son at about four or five years old nude sitting on a rock along the shore of Korea. Showing off his tally wacker. Just the thing is the family takes the picture.

Another thing that freaks me out about Korea.

Well go to go to class.

I have seen korean women hold the youngins' *beep* while they are peeing! I tell these women when I see it happening that "you're babo! Big time babo"! Koreans lack common sense is all it is.

I hope you don't actually do that. While you may believe it to be true, you are going to look crazy. I dont' understand it, but I wouldn't go saying that out in the street to someone who is helping their little boy pee.
