What do I do now?
Where do I go?
Warranty is expired.
How much will it cost me to get a new hard drive and have it installed?
I can't install myself. I don't have tools. Nor do I have the apptitude.

Hard drives are pretty cheap. You can prolbably get a 40 gig under 100k won. They are easy to install, just look under the notebook there should be a cover for it. Then restore your OS using the original cd supplied with the book.

You must be mistaken -- there could never be any problems with an Apple.

If you are interested in a self-repair, check out the excellent site PB Fixit at http://www.pbfixit.com/Guide/.

They have a do-it-yourself guide that walks you through all the steps of a hard drive replacement for your machine. You can find it at http://www.pbfixit.com/Guide/53.11.0.html.

Of course, I'm sure the Apple Center will be happy to do it for you for a fee. Let us know what you decide to do, and how much it ends up costing you.

I went to the apple store.
I got a new 60gig hard drive for 140,000w plus they installed it for 30,000 won. THat's expensive for a hard drive but I figured it was all worth if they get it up and running. I pick it up tonight. Let's see if this get's my computer problems sorted out.

I think you got a good deal there wwidgirl, considering it's Apple's own people. Last time I was in London I had to have my CD/DVD drive replaced. Luckily I was still on warranty, but the guy who dealt with me at the Apple store said that they charge a minimum of 250 (roughly 500,000 won) on ANY internal replacement, and that's just the basic charge. From there they'll usually add on extra costs depending on what exactly needs to be replaced.

Apple install discs that come with computers are tied to that particular model. You need a OS 10.4 install disc. Available from Apple or from other sources.....

Are you familiar with BitTorrent? You can find Tiger (and almost anything else) by doing a little searching.

Like here for example: http://thepiratebay.org/details.php?id=3344152
