i ordered some doeji kalbi, and well, there it was; living, squirming, and staring at me, having strange little slug-thoughts about slug-life. i did not eat the slug, as the pork seemed to be a good enough protein source for the evening's digestive activities, but rather put it aside and showed it to a waitress, who quickly removed said animal and spent the rest of the meal staring at me intently.
my water also tasted like a middle eastern man's taxi smells. i will not be eating there again.

I bought a big bag of beautiful, organic, pre-washed greens at E-mart a few months back for juicing purposes. Yeah, I *know* better than to trust other people's juicing, but I always seemed to be in a hurry. Besides, I figured any residual dirt would be a good source of B-12.

Was tossing a handful in the blender one night when I saw what appeared to be a brown spot on the baby collards. Pulled it out for a closer look. After all, greens were about a week old by this time, and I didn't want any yucky decaying bits in my smoothie. Unfortunately, said brown spot MOVED. That's when I took another look in the bag and realized that I had a virtual snail colony on my hands. Worse yet, I'd already used 90 percent of the greens in the bag in all their raw and unwashed glory. ...

Now, the greens get washed, rinsed, soaked, and rinsed again before they even go into the fridge.

Slugs are really hard to wash off... they stick on, same with snails. Besides, if it's got a slug then at least you know it's relatively close to or completely organic.

If there are slugs and snails, it means that there isn't too much poison and such on it... nothing wrong with that. Pick them off (or eat the if you choose).

I'd rather see live critters in the food than a total absence of any life.

I found one in a salad I ordered back in Canada several years ago. It seemed to be as anxious not to be there as I was...hustled himself off the plate as fast as he could go.

First of all, it's possible to hold an E2 and a D2 simultaneously. The school and the job have to know about each other, and the schedules have to demonstrateably not overlap. I did it 1.5 years ago, and it was pretty easy to do.

Second, after your first term you can work up to 20 hours a week with the permission of your school and an amendment to your visa status.

My absolute favorite book growing up was a book called "Slugs" by David Greenberg. It was about eating slugs, the different lifestyles that slugs may lead and the revenge they may have on lowly humans. Just thinking about the pictures is cracking me up on the inside. I had forgotten all about it. Thank you for making me remember.
