yo d00ds, I've been here for almost 2 months now, and haven't managed to meet any cute korean girls at all

It's hella weak

My friend who came at the same time has met quite a few, but I guess I'm kinda intimidating or something, so girls never approach me

anyway I've been feeling really bummed out this last week, and I'm thinking I might just bail on Korea and head back to the US, since I can be a loser just as well there but make 2-3 times as much money by using my electrical engineering degree, and that'd have the added bonus of me enjoying my job

Also, is there any way to register for websites without your ID number? my boss is being really lazy about getting me my ID card, and it's kinda driving me nuts. I don't mind using an illegal ID number generator so long as it's only very mildly illegal, like a 500,000 won fine or something if I'm caught (but I don't want to do anything that'd land me in prison or cost thousands of dollars).

yo tOO*, I've tried to read past your second line, but I couldn't manage.

It's a hella of post

My friend tried to do the same, but your post musta been weird or something

i think that you should just bail and head back to ohio and use your electrical degree to fix your trailer park. hell, thats why you studied isn't it.?

you can pay the 500,000 won fine at incheon as you check out as its kinda mandatory, they will catch you

hey Reflections, thanks for the helpful advice

FYI, electrical engineers design electronics or else maintain huge important electrical systems, it's electricians who maintain trailer parks

Ok, though its funny you are bailing on Korea because you cant meet girls. Heres a hint. It worked for me before I got married:

1. Go to bar
2. See a girl
3. Say "Hello"
4. Talk to girl
try not to be sleezy.

If it doesnt work, try again with another girl. Keep trying.

When you succeed, come back and Ill plan your 1st date for ya.

Why did you come to Korea when it's just so lucrative back home?

Maybe you are just not attractive to Korean girls? Trying too hard? Come across as a sleaze?

How about this....

Have something to offer them besides sparkling western beauty. It isn't 1975 anymore.

BTW...sitting on your butt behind a computer isn't the best way to "not be a loser and meet girls". You could take many more positive steps with the 500,000 you are willing to pay to the penal system.

Yep Jinju is right, Marcilla. You can't just expect women to walk up to you on the street and try to score, especially in Korea. I mean, it happens, but.. it's not something you rely on.

Tell us how many girls you've approached and been shot down by. That'll let us know how much you really care about getting a gf.

Personally, I have a limitless cache of feminine masterpieces from which I call upon at random times to cajole me. But I can't let you access that cache until you prove your dedication to the cause.

So, are they from the same litter as your avatar? Putty cats. I guess theres still a shed of hope for Marcilla.

Hella Marcilla, you can probably pick up a used putty cat from the Buy/Sell thread. Might even be the real thing.

Just remember to give it some water and put it in a cage when you depart Incheon....

Read this very carefully - GET SOMEONE TO INTRODUCE YOU

Ever been to a booking club? Well if you have you have (hopefully) observed an interesting phenomena. Both men and women go to a booking club for the same reason - they want to hook up. But what ends up happening? A guy flags some waiter down and has him "drag" a female over to sit and chat with him. And of course the female goes along very unwillingly and overtly makes a big show of the fact that the act is "forced". This illustrates an aspect of Korean culture that is often lost on us foreigners. Women by large in this society have not been ravaged by the thralls of feminism and still act in a traditional way. A woman who is overtly sexual is regarded as a *beep*. Now women are of course sexually attracted to men lots of times both foreigner and Korean but to act on their own on these impulses would be breaking social mores. Therefore when a woman is "introduced" by someone whether a pushy waiter in a booking club, or just a friend it allows her to save face as well as pass the buck on responsibility - "It's not my fault...i was drug over there against my will." When I figured this system out it totally turned on the lights so to speak on the whole relationship quagmire here in the good old R.O.K. If there is someone you are interested in just have someone introduce you. Trust me it is sometimes the ONLY icebreaker that will work and probably will mean the difference between you having a meningful conversation with a gal or being brushed off - "Me no speak English waygook..."

i think just to meet girls is a pretty lame reason to travel. yes, it can be an added bonus, but if that is your only reason, it comes off as pretty sleazy. you indicate that you didn't have much luck in the dating game back home, so i wouldn't expect korean girls to line up on a waiting list to go out with you. it also sounds like you dislike teaching and you could make more money at home, so maybe it would be best to cut your losses now and head back. maybe stop over in patayya or angeles city to meet some folks with a similar outlook? bon voyage.

ok, i'm leaning towards "satire" and "taking the piss." Surprised people are taking the OP to be legit and serious.

i hope you meet someone. it'd be a nice thing that happened here....but to come expecting it, and want to leave 'cause it hasn't happened yet....how odd. don't you sorta just do stuff for yourself, and hope you bump into someone along the way, wherever you are? and if you don't, that's ok too? i don't think there's a set of rules to meet 'korean girls'...they're people, and good luck with meeting the right person.
