I'm glad a couple of you found it as funny as I did.
For the record:
Everybody else must be busy screaming at each other in the perenial politics p1ssing match known as "current events".
This board sometimes suffers from irony deficiency.

I can't help but notice a certain level of intellectual inbreeding here...same old same old, and even the relatively few intelligent individuals get drawn into the same old topics/themes. Thank goodness for News of the Weird. |

Now, Rangel's statement is just rolling on the floor funny- whether you like his politics or not.
So far there are 42 hits on this thread, and only three people contributing.
Sad. |

Well, really, what is there to respond to? It's kind of no-brainer sort of thing. It's so obvious, it's too obvious to be exceedingly funny. I think Bush is one of the worst things since the wheel (don't ask me where he is on the list because I haven't actually made one... ) , but it only got a slight tilt of the corner of the mouth from me because... it's too accurate to be great humor. Here's my scoring:
(IOW: Cute, but sadly all too true.) |

Arghhh!
There is the answer- people feel so strongly, one way or the other, that a very good line can be see as "too accurate to be great humor".
In my mind, great humor hits the nail on the head, but in a really creative and funny way. I listen to good political comedians because they can tell the truth in ways the "serious" media cannot. George Carlin comes to mind (except for his unfortunate bathroom humor), and Bill Maher (who actually got fired for telling the truth).
Right now it seems that a little levity in the mix in politics in the States could only be a good thing. That is why Jon Stewart can't be missed. It is the teaspoon of sugar that helps the truth go down. |

Funny stuff.
Here's something for you.
Robin Williams and Jon Stewart. Not so succinct as the OP's though.
*edit* I can't make the link work. But it's worth going to The Daily Show's site to watch. |

Yawn...same old Bush-bashing we've been listening to since he got elected. It's not funny any more. Why? Because it's been said in too many and various ways in the preceding years. Bush's intellect (or a lack thereof) has been a comic standby for a long time. It just doesn't get the same reaction the 100th time, as it does the first. And finally it would have more resonance were his political opponents not so prone to the same lack. |
