Well, I think the Koreans in my neighbourhood couldn't be more happy.
Schadenfreuden is what the Germans call it I believe.
Well we shall see tomorrow I guess. Two Asian teams could be effectively eliminated if Korea plays poorly.
Good for Guus Hiddink though. He is a class act even if Korea didn't show much.

I figured out that Japan was playing when I heard all the screams from my neighbours (Australia's second goal).

I heard them too cheering that night for Australia. Oddly, one of the papers had a thing about Koreans in Australia cheering for the Japanese. Huh.

Its more than that. The guy who coaches Australia now coached Korea in 2002.

Anyone mention JAPAN's "GOAL".

Frickin' highway robbery Confused

Wonder how many YEN the nips "secreted" into the ref's Swiss bank account right before the game?

They deserved to lose ... and lose as badly as they did.

Nips? Are you a vet of Bataan or something? Do you go around calling black people niggers too?

That is unless they've been badly burned to a crisp in a house fire or something.

Nip doesn't work very well as a shortening of Nippon though, as it is pronounced "Nihon" anyway...

Not many Japanese Americans would find "nip" an acceptable term for them.

Last time I checked Black people generally refer to themselves as "black". Heck they even use the "N" word but lay ground rules. Some people may have their doubts that Quebec's provincial parliament is called the Nation Assembly but if that's what they call themselves, well, that's what you call them.

I don't know many Japanese that run around calling each other "nips". The only people I've ever heard say that are 1) oldsters who fought in the pacific and while I'd not find it pleasant to here them say "nip" I'd cut them some slack 2) racists and bigots.

Which are you? What's the secret third option?
