The subway runs to the airport now. It isn't that big of a place, so with 14 hours, nothing is too far out of the way.
Might want to check out the Quays near the Central Business District. There's orchard road for massive shopping. The zoo is supposed to be great. If you're into indian food, there is little india. |

into indian food???? uhm...yeah.
hey..have you heard or been to this placE?
http://www.wildwildwet.com/ I am a BIG fan of water parks and I kinda figure it would be a GREAT way to sanwhich a 6 and 13 hour flight.
It seems it's a little bit smaller (and only has two slides...)but it's only 12SG$...that sounds kinda cheap.
subway to the airport? That is fantastic!
And what is the deal with immigration? Am I going to have to go through security and all my crap with such a huge amount of time in between? Usually I fly direct so i don't know exactly how that works. |

I had a similar delay in Singapore and I loved it there!
Little India and Chinatown are a must.
It's such a clean city. I can't wait to back there some day. |

Just your carry-on baggage. Immigration in Singapore is a breeze. |

Or if you can't be bothered lugging stuff around, there is a left luggage facility in the transit lounge area. I guess it's a little pricey, but you can pay using any currency and it just saves alot of hassle going in and out of the security thingies when you come back through. |

It's a nation state, everything is near to the airport.
The zoo is great, check that out. Also they have a night safari which is really cool. Never been to the water park. That sounds quite good as well.
I took in a couple of the historical sights, they were cool too. One chinatown looks pretty much like another from where I'm standing. Same with the india thing. If you want to try real indian food ... go to india.
Oh, and make sure to try some of the tiger beer ... |

Same here!
The first time I went there (1996), I couldn't adequately appreciate it - it wasn't 'Asian' enough for me (or so I thought at the time).
Went there a second time in 2004 during a 10-hour layover (on the way to Madrid).. absolutely loved Singapore!
I can't wait to get back there again myself someday. |

About 20 minutes from the airport to Orchard Road, by subway or (cheap) taxi. |

what day are you going? i went on a sunday (through the land border from Johor Baru) and spent 3 hours in line at immigration. i think alot of people go to malaysia for the weekend. i heard that the airport one was a bit busier on sunday also. if you go on sunday, be sure to bring cash with you because my atm card wouldnt work on sunday in any of the atms and i had kind of a hard time finding an open money changer.
i was there two weeks ago for the same amount of time and had a great time. go to little india, at night if possilbe to see thousands of indian guys just standing around throwing trash all over the place. stumbbled into a very weird red light district in little india... best indian food i ever had (not in the red light district, indian sushi doesnt appeal to me). china town was cool too. theres a small muslim district close to little india that has a few mosques in it and muslim food, but not much else. |
