Everyone ~
My teeth are loose! Is anyone else experiencing this? They're not dangling-from-a-membrane loose - they just feel slightly achy and jiggly. I ate 15 kilos of oranges today as a preventative measure. This is very odd because I am an oral hygeine Nazi - very careful about keeping my teeth clean and in good condition. This has never happened. Help! Where's the nearest denturist?!

Yo Gums!
Sounds like you have been hitting the dried squid too hard lately...or possibly any of the other varieties of dried "anju."
Speaking of which, I really love "American Meat Snack" (aka beef jerky) that they sell here. Goes great with soju and does a great job of loosening up the teeth. |

Are your gums healthy? Brush your gums to strengthen and rub your gum lines with a tooth pick. This way, even if all your teeth fall out, you'll have some damn perty gums. |

Oh man, you guys - this sucks! My gums are really healthy, my teeth are white; I just went to the dentist last month for a look-see. But don't worry! I'm carving out a new set of teeth from an old piece of chipboard that I found beneath a pile of rotting kimchi in the street! When I'm through making these babies, I'll be able to bite through titanium!

Given the salt, garlic and other nasty acidic stuff in Korean food, I'm shocked that folks aint running around toothless here. |

Oh well, if it's any consolation...losing your teeth may be a huge boost to your popularity in some parts... |

I'll play doc..
Probably a simple infection, wash your mouth out with diluted hydrogen peroxide, (can you get listerine?) and take a couple of aspirins.
You haven't mentioned having a fever or losing your appetite. Do you have any other symptoms? Are you gums discolored? |

I have a bit of a sore throat, and a monster mouth ulcer. My teeth are almost carved out. A picture will follow...

PS - Are human teeth like ivory, d'you reckon? What do you think these babies are worth on the black market? We're all harbouring goldmines! Let's collectively sell 'em and go to Bora Bora! |

ahh, Doctor tiny say Herpes Simplex. You need an antibiotic, go get a shot and take a day off and sleep.
Your teeth are fine. |

Well in this case, the "doctor" is wrong. Firstly, Herpes Simplex is a virus, and that means it is non-responsive to antibiotics. Secondly, it's fairly uncommon for H.S to be the primary cause of a mouth ulcer. Mostly, they come from misadventure - eating too-hot foods, biting your lip, brushing your teeth too hard, etc.
Thanks for the advice all the same. I got some topical anaesthetic which seems to be doing the trick. I am still gutted over the fact that I won't get to show off my chipboard teeth, since it seems these pesky enamel ones are still freeloading.

PS - if your wisdom tooth is bothering you, it's not so bad getting it out; I had all four of mine done at once when I was 18, and it wasn't traumatic in the least. |

Heehee - lost my mind? Maybe! All I know is that I had a pair o' mi-T-fine wood teeth rigged up which will now, sadly, go to waste.
The name of the stuff I got is Kamistad Gel. It's lidocaine, thymol, chammomile flower tincture and benzalkonium chloride. It seems to have been imported from Germany and was pretty expensive - W5000 for a wee tube. It's curious stuff; it stings like mad when first applied, but within 10 seconds, you feel a rush of weird calmness. My friend (who seems to know about these things) reckoned it might be from the local anaesthetic being applied in such a rich nerve centre as the mouth. In any case, I feel fine now!

When I suffer from allergies, my gums often ache. Could this be the source of your pain? |
