Late notice, but what the hey.

If anyone wants to come out to Yellow Bar this Saturday around 9, you can help me toast making it all the way to the crotchedy age of 45 ... I'm here to say it all really does get better with time, and happy to have made it this far. Wink

I'm not attached to this becoming a big gathering cuz I know we'll be having one in a few weeks during the KOTESOL conference. If a few people come by who know me and tolerate me, I'll be pleased - and if more show up who just wanna hang out with other Dave Cafe habitues, well, that's peachy-keen also.

Sorry, I know this is the weekend of the Daejon Paintball Extravaganza, but it looks like I already nabbed a couple of people away from that via pm and in-person arm-twisting. (Thanks, guys.) Therefore, I wanted to put it out here in case anyone else wants to know this is happening.

If you haven't been to Yellow Bar in Hongdae and you're not sure how to get there, send me a pm or maybe wait until tomorrow and I'll repost directions.

happy birthday bob, wish we could be there but we will be there the following weekend for the Buena Vista Social Club show so maybe that weekend.

Besides all these trips to Seoul get to be expensive, thank god for OT Wink

Directions gooood. I've been exceedingly thirsty of late, and any reason's a good reason, particularly when it's a birthday (even if you've never met the birthday boy)!

Happy b-day, BTW, in case I don't show up.

(This Yellow Bar, it has beer?) Laughing

Yes, and cheap. Also inexpensive cocktails and tequila shots.

At work now, will post the directions as found in previous party threads once I get home this evening.

Bob means cocktails.

Well, I'll try to be there. I'm still waiting for word from my friend, and then I'll know more.

Happy Birthday Bobster. And mine is tomorrow (Thursday), so we have a good excuse to have a drink. Where is the Yellow Bar?

It turns out that paintball's been cancelled.. I just called the guy who is organizing it.. and he said there wasn't enough interest..

So looks like Saturday sounds good for YELLOW..

By the way, for the paintball, he said he's going to reschedule it for a couple weeks from now instead..

My first question is, how is it that The Zyzyfster can type the word for mixed drinks that starts with "c" and I get deleted by an overzealous swear filter? Here I am a mod and everything and you'd think that would give me special superpowers ... we might have to modify this guy just so he can teach us his secret tricks.

And, oh yeah, camel, it ain't MY swear filter, it's Sperling's - let's lynch 'im at the KOTESOL party! Yeah, man! Like, fight the power, brothahs and sistahs!

Jaj, we'll have to buy each other drinks to celebrate this birthday coincidence thing - must be why you've always been such a sympathetic drinking partner, this confluence of astrological signs and all ...

Folks, listen up. Here's how to find the Yellow. It's from the tail end of the thread about the get-together we had there in early Aug, and memory serves, a lot of people came so the directions must have worked.

Quote:
The closest subway stop is SANG-SU, line #6 (brown line - same subway that Itaewon is on), stop #623.

When you come out of the subway, take exit 2. When you come up, look at the four corners there, see the green sign above that says "Shinchon Rotary, Hongik University" with the arrow pointing that direction. Stay on the right side of the road and walk for about 6-7 minutes. It'll look kind of quiet right here in this particular spot.

Suddenly you will see a very well lit corner with the 7-11 and Route 66 on the left side, and Boston Bar & SKA Disco on the right side. If you have been walking on the right side of the street, you will take a right at the corner of SKA/Boston bars.. and up that street you will see a sign that says "club COSMO" which is a very big sign that stretches across the street. It'll take about 2-3 minutes to walk there, and right on the right, right next to the "COSMO sign you will see YELLOW BAR.

Since apparently the paintball event has been canceled, all you frustrated mercenaries can come out to my party and tell us all some grand stories about how glorious it WOULD have been, haha ... hasta la vista, baby!

No. No paintballs. Spitballs maybe, no paintballs and nothing that looks like a gun. My party. Look to the left and have a gander at my avatar, camel.

Actually, hey, I might give the paintball thing a try next time it gets organized - something new, something never tried before ... treat like a 3-D video game.

Watch your back, suckah.
