Let's get back to the heart of the topic. My body is mine and mine alone. Don't I have the right to not be touched if I don't want to be touched?
There are good and bad ways to react by being touched (unwanted), and innocent and malicious reasons for touching. But nonetheless, if you don't like it, it's your right. |

And as stated he could have reacted a lot earlier. By his own accounts he let the situation happen then started to make comments and vent about it later.
This is less about him being touched that his offense that the man had to "teach him something"
If I dont want to be touched and someone is coming towards me with intent to touch me, they are not going to succeed, or they are going to get stopped the second they do.
I had a harmoni start to grab my jacket in itaewon after I politely refused to give her money. That lasted all of half a second.
Also, we are touched every day by students, by close contact with others on the subway, the bus. Surely every one of us here have to take crowded subways and buses often. While this is not the same thing the outcome is the same, we are constantly being touched and come into contact with others daily.
But yes, you have the right not to be touched if you don't want to, Some people just take longer to come around to the fact that some people like to have this right.
We live in a country where personal space is all but foreign as a concept, and assisting others (right or wrong) is often a duty of the older people.
Its this mentality that has older people telling thier children they are fat, that they can not marry certain people, or that they are not doing well enough in life.
I might have taken this post a little more seriously if the OP hadn't started in such a judgmental tone, one that screamed superiority.
Of course people have the right not to be touched, but like any right, occasionally you have to stand up for it, not whine about it after you allowed someone to violate it. |

awesome. That's the first time I heard of that forum. A lot of those usernames sound familiar, but I haven't seen them around recently |

Anywho, don't people always use this forum to rant and whine? I'm impressed I got at least 8 pages of comments. I was surprised when it made it to page 2. I really don't care all that much about the situation, but this thread keeps popping up.
That day, I went for my walk, was disrupted for about 30 seconds, and continued on my way. I came home to my lonesome apartment on a Saturday (or maybe Sunday) afternoon and made a silly post on Dave's, and didn't really think about it again. Interesting it's made it this far. I've been called a racist and an ass-clown. First time I've been called a racist (though I acknowledge it was later rescinded) but not the first time I've been called an ass-clown (I grew up with brothers). It's been fun watching this thing go on and on. I'm trying to figure out the asmith forum's whole angle on this thing. At what level of sarcasm is it?
Other than that, who cares? |

It would be perfectly befitting for a guest appearance from you.
And please... don't refer to it as a forum... that is... distasteful. It is virtual bumper cars. Except instead of cars it's obscenity. And instead of bumping it's bad jokes. You get the idea.
