" This is Korea, if you dont like it get out!" Quoted from countless random adjeosshis. I think people have the right to charge whatever they want. If they wanna charge 900 dollars for a used IPAD that would cost 600 dollars new in the US, you should remember TIK. What is TIK? This is Korea!

If you buy something when tax is included you can claim tax back at the end of the year - hence tax deductable. Duties and tarrifs sometimes have further VAT addded - not sure if these are deductable.
In any case when you exclude the tax but quote the original price, you in fact are further screwing the buyer.
My two cents |
Whatever the price is that someone is paying at any given level is a fair price...if it weren't fair then the buyer wouldn't buy....and it if it weren't fair then the seller wouldn't sell....each person is different with their price points....some people value used good more or less than others (both buyers and sellers)...some people are willing to pay a premium for things that aren't available here (i.e. more than they are generally "worth") and other people aren't.
There is more to pricing than meets the eye....for one buyer it might not be worth their time to search the internet for an hour to save $10....they go to a site that they know has the product and just buy it as long as the price is reasonable....for another buyer it might be worth their time to spend this time in lieu of paying the higher price. In essence the two products have the same price: one is X + $10 and the other is X + 1 hour of your time, the 1 hour of your time will certainly have different values for different people, which is why some folk shop around for each individual product they want to buy and others just go to Amazon.com, pay a reasonable price, and don't use up their free time...this is called 'price discrimination' and it's just a normal part of the buying/selling process.
Bottom line...if a buyer is willing to pay X price, then this price is fair in their eyes...and the higher the price is, the longer the seller will have to wait to find a buyer. |
I agree with you to some extent. I think that buyers on dave's are for the most part retarded and are helping to inflate the goods sold on this website. If they had a little more common sense then prices would come down significantly. |

Yes....but every buyer is retarded compared to someone else who is more informed about X,Y, or Z....and every buyer is a genius compared to a 3rd buyer who is less informed.
It's all relative....I might get my hiking/camping equipment for 1/2 of the price that you do, and my airline tickets for $100-200 less than you do....but then you get your books and computer components for less....or whatever....those are clearly just examples. Everyone has their niche at what they're "good" at buying, and other things that they are ignorant about.
If someone is retarded, then they will spend more money in general and just be bad with their money in general...Dave's is hardly the cause of this effect.
Cultural differences also have a huge effect....in the US used goods don't hold much value, generally selling for less than half of their "new" value, but in Chile used goods often go for 80-85% of their new price. So to an extent the fact that we're often buying/selling goods that are part of a niche market in Korea, the pricing structures will be different...when this structure conflicts with the structure we are used to it seems like people are asking too much for their stuff.....but the opposite happens as well....when we left Chile and sold our things (all to Chileans and not other expats) we were able to empty our apartment in a couple days....people literally brought trucks and just bought EVERYTHING whether they needed it or not, because the prices were so low compared to what they were used to. 1/2 off was SUCH a bargain that surely people were buying some things just to re-sell them at 25% off to someone else. You should have seen the looks on their faces when we said some stuff was free, it was as though they couldn't comprehend that we really were just giving it away....and these were middle class folk. |

I agree 110%. Don't like the price, don't buy it (and go somewhere where you can buy it cheaper). Better yet, try to negotiate!! Supply and demand. New electronics, clothing and anything imported is ridiculously overpriced here in the land of the morning cigarette. If I go back to North America and buy goods and no longer need those goods, I'm not going to sell them to you for what I paid for them...why not make at least a small profit? You dig??? |

I love that some posters actually have the balls to complain about other people attempting to stop what is essentially fraud. |
Fraud? WTF? |

IF IT USED, EVEN 1 DAY DON'T EXPECT TO RECEIVE EVEN FAIR VALUE.
I think it is a buyers market not a sellers market here and even back home. |
The market decides fair value my friend. Did you know a few years ago a used Prius sold for MORE than a new one?
Let me get your contact info. Tell me when you are gonna sell your house or your car so I can buy those from you for less than its worth.
The value of the item in question is irrelevant. Most people want to get as much as they can if they sell their house or car. How is that different than selling a TV or computer? |
Agree 110% |

Selling a used item for more than the price of a new item, or giving misinformation in order to sucker someone into paying too much for something is fraud. I've seen both of those things on this board. |
