Lets see rapier... this is the progression of events, as i see it.
Hank Scorpio and BB made a bet for $5 that the man wasnt an islamic terrorist. Then MOS made a higher wager saying...

So MOS made a bet that the guy wasnt an Islamist and you made a bet saying that he DEFINITELY was an Islamist. No articles from reputable sources were found that proved he was DEFINITELY an Islamist. On the countrary, all articles found pointed to the fact that he was a pissed off, terminaly ill farmer. In my opinion, based on the articles that you two and others found, it was proved fairly well that the guy was NOT an Islamist.

So I think you have to prove that it was a chinese government cover up because all the evidence we have found points to the fact that he WASNT an Islamic terrorist. You have not proved that. Therefore, you loose.
I have the feeling that you entered this bet planning to pull the chinese government cover-up trick out of your hat. I think thats cheap. |

As I've already explained -- which you are too gutless to admit -- I don't have to anymore, because you've already admitted you can prove the assertion you made in your bet. I never made any such statement to that effect. By explicitly stating you can't prove your assertion, you forced yourself to lose your bet. Everybody knows it.
That's why you must pay up.
YES, I made an explicit bet to Hank, $20 says he wasn't an Islamist. To HANK. YOU made a $40 bet offer to ME, saying he DEFINITELY wasn't.
Hank never took me up on my offer. So I had no bet with him.
I took you up on YOUR offer. I countered, "$30, split the difference."
And you lost.
So you owe me $40. |

I'm saying that I never made any such statement. Nothing more, nothing less.
By explicitly stating that you can't prove the bomber was an Islamic terrorist, you made it so that it doesn't matter any more. You lost the bet.
You made it that way. ** shrug **

Rapier, you remind me of my friend Cadge, back in the day.
One night we were having a beach party and old Cadge got stumbling drunk and Josh pissed on his head and the entire rugby team watched it and most of the soccer team watched it and a whole bunch of other people watched it and we all know that Cadge got pissed on. Everybody told him he was pissed on but from the next day until now and probably forever into the future Cadge maintains that he was not pissed on. |

If you haven't lost your bet, then why has Hank admitted he lost his bet to bb, the exact same bet you made with me?
Hank admitted that he lost his bet, on even less evidence than the evidence that shows that you lost yours. He said, "It's been 4 days and I've been unable to prove the bomber was Islamic, so yep I owe bb $5."
He never said, halfway through the bet, "...I can't prove the bomber was Islamic." As you did.
You owe me $40.

You know I have a story. a real one this time. I once was head chef of a restaurant in London. I employed this KP who was a nice quiet boy. However he seemed to vanish and spend long periods of time slacking off, God knows where. One day i walked into the freezer to see him jer king off into one of the chickens.
Of course i had to fire him, and throw out the entire chicken stock. What was worse is that his father came back to the restaurant saying I'd dismissed him for no reason at all and that his son was very depressed. To save the poor kids reputation, i made up a tale of him always being late.
The father wouldn't hear of it and went on..until I finally confided in him the sad triuth- his boy was a w.a.nker. He left ashen faced. The last I heard, the kid left town with the intention of taking up esl in Asia and starting his own chicken wing stand somewhere. |
