The band of the '80s was Guns n' Roses.

I like Appetite for Destruction. But you must remember it is Nicky Wire's favourite album. You dont want to be on the same side of the fence as the Wire.

I don't have any idea who Nicky Wire is. Appetite still the greatest album of the '80s.

Anybody who doesn't see "Shiny Happy People" as a companion piece to "Everybody Hurts" is pretty effin' thick.

One of those songs is the most ridiculously syrupy thing ever written, and the other is bar-none the most depressing pop song ever.

And they're written by the same guy. That's a pretty marvelous output by a brilliant, manic-depressive mind.

Everybody Hurts is one of the most depressing songs ever written 'bar-none'?

I'd say it was one of the most reassuringly optimistic songs ever written, you know, "So hold on". Big crescendo at the end etc ...thicko.

But not at the same time like Paul Simon's famous song writing formulas: happy lyrics & sad music or sad lyrics & Happy music.

Well, of course it doesn't approach the nuance and intricacies of U2's emotional range ...

...hold on...

...wait for it...

Or the fact that U-2 will jump on the bandwagon with regard to any trendy
political cause regardless of whether the actual band members actually give a hoot about it. Who cares about the poor Aids victims in Africa. It's all about selling records.

Anyone who ignores the fact that American Beauty was an external exploration of Magnolia's internal one probably sits around appreciating the crap out of mediocre REM songs. Razz

He's a real nowhere man
sitting in his nowhere land
making all his nowhere plans for nobody.

Doesn't have a point of view.
Knows not where he's going to.
Isn't he a bit like you and me?

I'd take Queen over REM or U2 anyday.

Just want to say it's good to see you go back to using a frame from the Scorpio episode instead on the Lisa the Iconoclast one. Much better.
