Anyone know where to get Sichuan food here?
Like, actual authentic huiguo rou, mapo doufu, shuizhu roupian, gongbao jiding, yuxiang qiezi, fuqi feipian, koushui ji, zhangchaya, deng deng...
I can find that stuff in any major city in the US, but I haven't seen any of it in Korea yet, just that gooey, cornsyrupy version of mapo doufu known as "mapa dooboo bap" haha. |
Amen. There's a good and very authentic place in Shindaebang. Run by Chaoxianzu Chinese folks but they do Sichuan stuff competently. Nice huoguo, mapo doufu's decent if you ask for it extra "ma-la," good yuxiang qiezi, and plenty of second-hand smoke. Authentic for better or worse, but good grub. It's off exit 2; forgot the name (something ending in "lou"), but give 'em a call at 02-856-7168 for directions. Se hablan Chinese and Korean. |

I went this week to Beijing Koya this week and it had great hot and sour soup (but at a steep price of 8,000 won). I also had the shredded duck in garlic sauce and it was good, though I will try the whole roast duck next time (60,000 won).
The place ain't cheap but it is good and unique. It is located near Insa-dong toward Jogye Temple.

| There's a place near Myeondong, but I think it's Taiwanese. Towards the West edge near Banporo. That's the closest i can think of. |

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet but there is a great supposedly Hong Kong style place I go to in Sinchon. I've no idea how authentic it is but it's really good. It's called Wan Chai.

I've been there I believe... its a dim sum place. Its really good I like it.
There is another place, its a Singaporean dim sum/chinese restaurant place. Not sure if you will like it. Its called Crystal Jade Palace. There is one in Myeongdong, in that H&M building on the 3rd or 4th floor. They also have 4 to 5 Crystal Jade around Seoul as well. Both are good but I was hoping for very authentic Cantonese food.

It's right next to Foreign Book Store by Noksapyeong subway station. The reviews are mixed. |

so I may be a little late on this but...
has anyone spotted authentic chinese (cantonese, sichuan, etc) food in Busan?
hopefully one that's reasonably priced (and not like the American Chinese restaurant found by PNU that costs min. 35K per small rice bowl worth of food)...?
thanks |
