this is supposed to be about stuff that everybody else likes. i have been listening to jazz music for 5 years now and i've met a grand total of 3 people excluding jazz clubs that legitimately liked jazz music.

This is exactly why I made my list pretty dumb on purpose. HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT EVERYONE LIKES?

Some of the responses on this thread have been as retarded as the one I intentionally made.

I like Jazz. Everyone in my family likes Jazz. We have quite the jazz library. My friends like Jazz. But does everyone? HOW DO WE KNOW?

So we generalize. Since I don't know, I guess I was generalizing that people like condoms, cause hey they use them. Or that people like the typical expat in Korea, cause you don't see a lot of expat to expat violence, so I guess they don't hate each other...but how the hell does anyone know?

And the guy with cell phones...they are a necessity for a modern life. My current job has it in the contract, I have to have a cell phone. It doesn't mean I necessary like it, but I have to have one. How do you know everyone loves or likes them? (Let's keep it to expats, cause Koreans and their phones are a whole other discourse!) I certainly do not like my students calling or messaging me at 9pm about a test or assignment due the next day...

Okay rant off.

Jeez, don't you grasp the concept of keeping your ears and eyes open and getting a general idea of what's popular?

So a conversation with you would go like this.

Where are you from?
Canada
So what kind of food do people like there?
Oh I couldn't possibly answer a question like that right now because it would mean I would have to generalize. Let me consult the national statistics web site first, so I can say with complete assurance that over 50% of the population likes waffles Rolling Eyes

Jazz is one of those things that hip urban sophisticates are just supposed to like. So I was thinking along those lines of things people are presumed to like. Also Belgian beers, designer vodkas, single malt scotch.

Piers Morgan.

Stiff as a board, unable to develop points that come up to an appreciable depth, chummey with lite weights with the Madison Avenue "right image" like Duran Duran, thrusts the rapier into non-conformists like Howard Stern and Mickey Rourke.

The dude ought to relocate to Switzerland or Austria.

Jesse Ventura put him in his place, 'tho ("BUDS" refers to the Navy SEAL training he endured).

There's no way Piers Morgan qualifies for this list. he is just about universally loathed in the UK and I imagine in the US too by now. .

"GLEE" and any similar crap--

I don't see the appeal of the whole "breaking into song and dance" in the middle of telling a story. To me it's just stupid--

The only exception is the original "Grease"; but the rest of it? Bleaughhhh

I totally agree about Piers Morgan--

True nobody likes Piers Morgan in the US. But I will take him any day over the guy he replaced: Larry King. OOh. I will add Larry King to the list. He was just a dumb-eff but extremely popular for some reason.

I like them too......but they did say themselves that they only really had good TV material for one season, but were persuaded to do the second against their wishes. The Murray character kind of pulled them through the second season.
