So the Western way is to bully your way around the bar attempt to physically intimidate those who are smaller than you and then belittle them in their own country?
Or maybe this wasn't the Asian way and that guy wasn't doing things the western here and what we had was a collision of morons.
There is another fair fight rule and that is pick on someone your own size. |
Yes, it IS the Asian way....deal with it.
Also, pointing to alleged bad behavior to justify other bad behavior is not exactly pro active. You don't know the story behind what you saw. Perhaps it was a repeated problem the customer was experiencing with the Thai staff? Perhaps the staff WAS ripping him off and the customer simply grew tired of it? Perhaps the staff members were simply playing dumb, acting as if they did not understand the customer, avoiding having to pay or reimburse him?
During the video, when did you see the customer bullying the staff? You (we) only saw what was filmed. So, assumptions on your part don't really fly.............nor do they do with anyone else, for that matter.
So, you just have to see things as they were filmed.
Customer was angry (those of us who lived in Asia for awhile now how these things can happen), for a whatever reason. Perhaps he is a naturally calm guy but he was pushed to his limits.......would you venture to make that assumption?
The customer was SUCKER PUNCHED, then kicked, then hit again.

I've already answered most of your points in my other posts, but to repeat myself....

| During the video, when did you see the customer bullying the staff? |
The second he banged on the bar. I keep on going back to that. Nothing happens in the way of an altercation before he does that.
ANY bar you go to in the East or West, you bang on the bar, things instantly change. Anyone who's ever sat behind that counter will not put up with that.

| The customer was SUCKER PUNCHED, then kicked, then hit again |
After the customer asked "Who wants it" Obviously he did.
If you are preparing for a bar fight, you check your lines of sight and you get your hands up around your head.
Another repeated point- when getting tossed out of a bar, the management does not 'owe you a fair fight'.

Remember, the people filming him were non-Thai as well, and clearly they regarded this guy as a 'spectacle'.

Or maybe he was a drunken belligerent moron.
Sorry. I've seen to many people get gang beat/ghetto stomped back home to believe that this is 'The Asian Way'.
Do you ever wonder why you don't hear about sober married couples with children getting stomped at chuck-e-cheeses at 3 PM on a Saturday?
Yeah single, drunken people at bars late at night tend to get into altercations. Maybe it has less to do with skin color and 'Asian ways' as drunken, in a bar, and late at night. |

What a moron. During my college years, I worked enough in service jobs to know a shitty customer when I see one. That was one. Stick it in your racist head.
The caption of video said the guy was demanding a drink he hadn't paid for.
It was hardly a sucker punch. It seems like the "western way" for bullies to pick on someone smaller and not in a position to do anything back. That stupid guy thought it would be like home where the workers would apologize profusely and lick his ass for something that was his fault. He deserved to get his ass punched. |

Wow stupidity at it's finest. The only thing we have to 'deal with' is your idiotic comments. If anyone pulled that crap at any bar, race aside, they would get their ass handed to them by a bouncer, nearby patrons, etc. So shut your trap and stop making this a race issue.
For the record, I agree that was a sucker punch and was a cowardly thing to do. But like I mentioned, if you pulled those types of antics at any bar you'd be be put down immediately. |

No, in most respectable places one would be "kindly" escorted to the door.
Telling me to shut MY trap?
*beep* off, little pimple. The reason I call it an "Asian way" is based on what I have observed, time and time again..................................
Though, it may be way off base in terms of generalization............like making generalizing to what the customer did or DID NOT do in the video.
You can't have it both ways.

And that 'kindly' escort would cease when you backed away and shouted 'all right, who wants it?'
No one is 'generalizing' that the guy banged on the bar and then said 'all right, who wants it?'
And if you are going to say 'who wants it?' you had better have your hands up and check your lines of sight.
Dude this is a guy getting tossed out of a bar, not pistols at dawn. |

Meh....all talk guys.
Anyway, as I already mentioned.................many people here made their own assumptions based on what they saw.....and did NOT see.
Really............bars in Asia.....................places that rip off people...........once in a while, you get someone who simply just won't buy into their face saving bullshit. Though, it can have consequences.
But at the end of the day, the customer should have just left. However, there is no need to be sucker punched THEN kicked in the face..........it's just wrong (unless the guy has a weapon).

Face saving bullshit sums it up pretty well. Thai people don't deserve to save face. They deserve to go bankrupt when all the tourists wise up to what a scam the whole country is and take their money elsewhere.
Btw, here's one thing I have yet to hear: a Thai person ever admitting he/she was wrong. |
