^Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that anymore. Loads of boats crowd the once quiet bay, and although there are some spots where decent swimming can be found, in a year or two the tranquility will be gone, replaced by boats and hordes of tourists (they've even smoothed out the road from Thong Sala to Thong Nai Pan).

If you want adventure head to Malaysia and Tamanagara park, there is a 9 day trek to a mountain through the jungle. Good fun.

Or go over to Borneo and enjoy life over there.

Thailand is a great country but there is so much more around there.

Anywhere that is away from the great unwashed is good by me.

Really, I like Thai people and it's a Thai cultural tradition to wash twice daily.

The great unwashed being backpackers.

As I said there are a lot more places than just Thailand to visit.

Branch out and don't follow the sheep.

Ha..Ha..Ha...any farang wearing a backpack bigger than needed for going to gym should be forced to wear a big maple leaf on it and endure the scorn. The neo-hippies always make me cringe when I see them....pure fright or flight.

Know what's really scary? The OP is probably a BACKPACKER>.. Shocked

Ya, I took a look at Borneo. However, it's kinda costly and I really just want to lay out at the beach and enjoy relaxing and not having to backtrack around. Thailand offers that and being once from Busan I think I can handle a few crowds.. but the suggestions on the secluded beaches I'll definitely look at.

Looked at Vietnam, but the beaches don't have the white sand that compelled me to Thailand.. plus, Jack from Lost "went" there (even though it was filmed in Hawaii).
