Not a hard choice.
Do you need portability and are you willing to give up price or performance to get it.
When it comes to computers you can choose any 2 of these 3.
Low cost
High performance
low weight - easy portability.
You can have low cost and high performance but not easy portability.
You can have low cost and easy portability but it will no be high performance.
You can have high performance and easy portability but it will not be cheap.
A desktop will have double or more the performance and storage capacity of a comparably priced laptop. Now-a-days a mini tower and 15' LCD are just about as portable and only a little more inconvenient than a laptop if you are not planning to run on battery power.
If you need to use it remotely (on battery power) then a laptop is the only real option. |

Well, with the whole spliff thing alot of his posts were just plain stupid.
Anyway, you are right most people do want more than their article is worth. |

| Other forums that I've been on where people bought and sold, you weren't allowed to point out that it could be bought cheaper elsewhere. You could send a PM to the seller and tell them that their price is high but sabotaging wasn't cool. If someone is willing to pay a ridiculous price then it's a fair price, since both parties agree to it. When I click on a 'for sale' thread and the OP is an obvious idiot, I hit the back button and I'm done with it. |

Too point out that the price that someone is asking for an object on an internet "buy/sell/trade forum is unreasonably high.
So over the past few months there's been a new term, spliffed, arise on the buy/sell/trade forum here at *****. It refers to when someone wants to sell their computer and prices it far to high. Spliff comes buy and rips the post to shreds and explains what a more reasonable price should be. The seller can now be refered to as being "spliffed" |

Just doing my duty.
But, I must acknowledge I've been somewhat disconcerted over my recent celebrity...I'm the unobtrusive type.

Price cops are unnecessary--a fair price is what the seller is willing to accept and the buyer is willing to pay. If there is no match, there is no sale.
I have posted stuff on here, only to have my sale shot down by a couple overzealous (and unsubstantiated) comments. When I came back a while later with the same item and price, I got multiple offers and ended up with a very satisfied customer (and seller). I have also posted stuff for free on here and received critical comments. Seems like some people simply enjoy sniping at the buy/sell posts. Hence the term "spliffed."
It doesn't matter whether spliff or anyone else have a valid reason, sabotaging a sale, has no effect on the actual value of the item offered, but automatically reduces the perceived value of the item.
Dave's is not a fair venue for buying or selling--it was not designed to be. If it was, the only communication would happen between the buyer and seller, like on ebay. |

I disagree that, 'Spliffing doesn't have a place.' People should know what items are worth and where to get a better deal.
However, spliffing on items that are free is not so cool, unless the Op is asking for a 200k delivery fee. |
