Most Americans I've met have been firmly against socialized healthcare in any form, even people that would benefit substantially from it. I doubt seriously that anything will ever change. They site numerous reasons; higher taxes, major imperfections in the European systems, unfair benefits being given to lazy people at the expense of hard-working people, the fear of socialism taking root and spreading, etc.
Socializing healthcare in the U.S. just isn't popular and those who talk about it don't gather much support. |
