about the bathrooms, i'm pretty sure it depends on which room you book. they have some really basic backpacker rooms, but mine has a bathroom (paid more for it).

I wouldn't go to Borocay. It is too busy and crowded. It's fine if you like that sort of thing. If you want to spend your vacation with a bunch of obnoxious foreigners, and the only scenery being the hotel next door.
I would suggest going south. Go to Dumaguete. It is beautiful. A nice small city on the water. Very cheap and you can mingle with some of the local people. From there it is an hour boat ride to Siquijor, a beautiful island with some lovely resorts. Or you can go inland and visit a nature reserve, or see a local hilltribe.
Trust me ... you won't regret it.
