Thanks for the info. I guess I'll just go ahead and book a flight while I'm here. I don't want to waste any time there messing around with finding a flight. I did, however, change my flight schedule so that I have a full 7 days. I was worried that I wouldn't have enough time to see much after factoring in the travel time to Palawan.

Tiger Beer, as for the quiet beaches, that's what I'm looking for. I'm going to Phuket for Lunar New Year, so that will be my time for the crowds and the parties. In the Philippines, I just want to relax.

One thing I'm interested in doing is snorkeling / diving. I've never done any of this before and want to check it out. Would it be difficult to make this happen if it only me? I mean, is that kind of thing something that generally requires a group of people in order to make it worth it to the people who run the thing? I know there's many little islands and such to check out and so I guess you have to get on some kind of guided tour type thing -- so can I join a group of other people? Do it alone? How would that work?

You can hire a banka for as little as $10 per day + gas to go out snorkelling. Lots of reefs are accessable from the beach. Most places can hook you up on a day tour as well.

Dive shops prefer groups to go but will take single individuals out if there is only 1 person. Most resorts / hotels / pension houses either have a dive shop or have access to one.

Certification is about $250 and takes 3 days.

Thanks again. Very Happy

Also, I found a great website on El Nido -- if anyone else is thinking of going there, check this site because it has lots of info about everything (flights, things to do, places to stay, etc.)
