Ignore this Canadian. If it weren't for a 50+ year investment in KOREA, he would be starving in Canada.

A more than 50 year investment in Iraq. Was anyone expecting something different? My only question to the OP is...
So what?

So what? Presidents lying is just so what? Pluto, you're out there. Lost. Good luck with that.

You and your ilk ARE the cause because you support the evil then obstruct solutions.

OMG...LMAO!

Okay, first, Which lie in particular are you referring to? Even if he was lying, would you have expected anything else besides a long-term commitment?

Yes. I expect them to get the hell out.

I'm out there you say? Dude, you've never been to Iraq or Afghanistan. You haven't got any real world experience. You sit here on Daves and post your drivel because you've read a few books or articles. Some of which you selectively cherry pick, then post.

Strawman. Neither have you; so have you; so do you. We ALL post what WE think is germane.

Idiotic.

Quote:
As for the solutions, we've got to identify the problems. The primary problem is security in Iraq. Leaving and disengaging will only ensure that things spiral out of control.

False. The primary problem is our presence in Iraq. Should we leave it would spiral into an order chosen by them at the time they choose. Witness what happened when the Brits pulled back down south: a 90% reduction in violence. Have you seen that ANYWHERE ELSE? No.

Quote:
The endgame in Iraq is a liberal democracy.

Says who? What idiot thinks you can impose ANY democracy on a Muslim people? The two are antithetical. I'm sure they're falling all over themselves waiting to give women equal rights and equal treatment, for example. You're repeating talking points.

Foolish.

To get there, security is required,

See previous comments on security.

political solution... then a free market economy so that Iraqis can produce their own wealth and grow their own country; you know it's called a free country.

What a joke. You mean the US-Maliki alliance? You mean the "freedom" to do business with whomever they want... err.... the US preferentially?

Bushies don't think. They follow.

You care more about your selfish hatred for America than Arab Liberty. Shame on you.

Yes, yes, yes, gopher. We all hate America.

Rolling Eyes

When I see you fighting for the rule of law in the US and me NOT doing that, then run your mouth, you anti-patriot. You've no idea what "American" means.

See edit. At least my mistakes are mistakes and not sheer stupidity.

Ah, yes, but then you try in vain to edit the GLARING REALITIES of history, too, don't you my little leftwing nutbar?

Sidenote: I can't decide which zinger I like better: Plig's or Carl's.

keane:

Last I heard the Iraqi government proffered this arrangement, much as the West Germans, Dutch, British, Spanish, Italians, Greeks, Libyans, Saudis, Turks, Kuwaitis, South Koreans, Filipinos, Japanese, Thais, Taiwanese, and even French have done in the past century.

Try to wrap your brain around that.

Let's see, the puppet and the master make an arrangement most favorable to the master.

Yes, that's an agreement to hang your hat on.

Are you sure you should be talking about other posters having wind between their ears?

And as for a permanent presence...do you really think the political will exists. The U.S has been talking for years about a pull-out. Should a Demo get into the house by 2009 it will probably happen then.

Why would Bush bother if he thought it would just be reversed in a year?
