A friend of mine working as an English teacher in Japan (Yokohama) was offered jobs working in "talking bars" when he was there. He was told that these places are for Japanese women (usually in their late 30's or 40's) who were unmarried and looking for male companionship. He was told (by the he-pimps) the men that work in these places made way more money than English teachers, but that they were expected to"service" the customers beyond simple talking. Essentially they would be man-whores. He said he was offered these jobs more than once.
Strangely, in Taiwan the stripper bars also featured talking girls and guys (yes Taiwanese stripper bars have guys and girls stripping) who were more sought after than the strippers. Everytime I went, there were as many women as there were men, and the women almost always had a "talking man" with them. As far as the sex tourism goes I saw lots of older european/french canadian women with young locals in Cuba, it seemed pretty normal. |
