Hardly. If he was, then he wouldn't be running from Captain America.
Fedor needs to fight Couture this year or he needs to start up his own WWF. |
Couture is the most over-rated fighter in the world. In his last 5 fights, he's 3-2. He's lost twice to Liddell. His three wins have come over Mike Van Arsdale, an injured Tim Sylvia, and Gabe Gonzaga (or as I like to refer to him, the Buster Douglas of MMA).
His lifetime MMA record is 16-8. Hardly extraordinary. Oh ya, and he's 44 years old. |

| the bottom line is this... fedor wanted to fight couture and the ufc turned the fight down... they would not agree to the fight unless fedor was under a ufc contract... and in case you haven't figured it out by now... the ufc is slowly trying to create a monopoly... that of course... benefits big business... not the fans that want to see the best matchups. SO... couture's contract with the ufc expires in october 2008... at that time, and any moment after... the fedor/couture fight is a true reality... the problem is... couture is no spring chicken... so, the sooner the better... UNTIL then, we have to settle for fedor fighting the korean carny tomorrow night. |
I don't see it really as a bad thing...one major company that is looked upon as the elite fighting league. Like any other league, you want one league so that you can see who really is the best. Don't you think?
Personally, I don't think Fedor didn't want to come to the UFC because he would have gotten his ass handed to him. Probably in the same fashion as Crocop. |
it would be great, i agree... just doesn't seem possible when you have so many good fighters all over the world... i think its more exciting to have a few different orgs and then allow them to fight each other when they've cleaned their division out... hence, anderson silva wiping out the ufc middleweight division and the need for him to fight someone like paulo filho or frank shamrock from elitexc.
as far as fedor getting his ass handed to him... i don't know about that... we'll just have to wait and see what happens... there's definitely no question that the pride guys aren't doing too well in the ufc... with exception to rampage. |

Man, Fedor looks like he's carrying more than a little holiday weight in that photo... hard to believe he's the toughest SOB in the world! |

6:00pm K-1 다이너마이트, 효도르vs최홍만
So there you have it. Finally, an event I'm excited to see that's being carried on SkyLife. |

Look what "Buster Douglas" did to Crocop. He destroyed him. What did Feder say about Crocop...that he was his toughest fight to date. Come on. Who has Feder beat that's really anyone to note? Mark Hunt, Kevin Randleman, some middleweight and who else?
Anyway, I think the heavy weight division is the weakest in all of MMA, but I still think Feder is ducking fights and leaning on the fact that the longer he waits to fight Couture the better his chances. Why would Feder fight a chump like this Korean dude. I don't mean to disrespect him, but come on, this is one step up from the WWF.

Yeah, this would be a great way to go about it if the UFC is wise. Have the top fighters from each league fight each other. Probably how it's going to end up, especially since Mark Cuban is getting into building his own league. |

| On my T-Broad regular cable it's channel 49 (but I also subscribe to their digital cable which gives me some extra regular cable channels - or at least they come in better ...) |

I agree with you for the most part. I hate the fact that Fedor's first fight in almost a year is against a sideshow freak with a 1-0 MMA record. And now it's probably gonna be at least another 4-6 months before we get to see him fight again. Worse still, when he does fight again it'll probably be against somebody with similar talents to Hong-Man.
I laugh when people question Fedor's record. Granted, he's fought some hacks, but who hasn't? The dude is 27-1, with his one loss being called on a cut. Mark Hunt and Kevin Randleman? Really? That's it? How about two wins over Mark Coleman? Heath Herring? Ricardo Arona? And let's not forget the two wins he holds over Nogueira (who Dana White claims is the best heavyweight currently in the UFC).
With regards to Fedor "ducking fights", I doubt it. There were a lot of reasons he didn't sign with UFC, which have been well documented on the Internet over the past few months. Following the situation as closely as I have, never once did it occur to me that Fedor was afraid to fight anybody in the UFC. Why would he duck Couture? It doesn't make sense. He's fought and beaten much better fighters, and Couture is far from the top of his game. Somehow I doubt Fedor fears a 44 year old fighter with a 16-8 record. |
