Dammit, now that I have a break the video's no longer available. Anyone have a rehost?
/Edit: Now it's back.
Y'know, I wish I could be surprised at this. |
I downloaded it for archival purposes |

I emailed it to my family |

What's wrong with that? Didn't see anyone walk rudely between Elvis and the car.
Or are you a woman inside who cries at weddings and must have the right flowers and right colored napkins? Lucky 7 works. |

Of course, there are some mad weddings in the West. I was once at an Irish traveller (what we used to call gypsy) wedding which had about 3 different punch-ups, beer-crates for chairs, and a shirtless man wearing a whole roasted chicken on each foot like shoes and skating across the dancefloor. Best wedding I've ever been to!
That ajumma is a beauty though. It's not really about crass weddings. It's about the unbelievable lack of personal mannners to push the bride aside as she's walking down the aisle on the biggest day of her life...............................
................Although, in Korea, I would argue that the biggest day of your life is the final year high school test day. |

THis is the point. And the main reason I can't really live here much longer. It's a nice enough country, it's not bad, but it's fricken annoying. |

| Thanks for that. Finally I have video proof of just how bad they can be. No one ever believes me when I tell them about all the pushing and shoving that little old ladies do on a routine basis. |

| The old lady is probably the bride's mother in law. She is just showing her daughter in law how her life will be for the next 15 years. |

I would have thought a bride to be virtually 'untouchable' even in Korea.
If that had happened back home, moms would be taking the dirt nap.
Totally believeable, and that's a sad commentary. |

Yeah, but you miss the point:
That video shows EXACTLY the behaviour so TYPICAL of ajummas. I have had that exact move done to me, more than once. That ajumma wasn't a "psycho" or "weirdo" she was a typical ajumma, though of course rude even by Korean standards for being insensitive about her timing, rude not for WHAT she did, just for WHERE and WHEN she did it. Her fault was in doing what ajumma do in the wrong context. But when we send such a video overseas, our families think she is the rudest crazy old woman around. I have to tell them, no, that is non unusual, happens to me once a month or so. |

| I wonder if I live in Korea for long enough I will become like that adjumma woman. If I do, promise to take me out back and lay me to rest. |

I'm always amazed how Korea adopts the trappings of the western wedding but don't grasp the, you know, silence and respect part. Do they yap on the cell phones during the real ceremony after the white wedding?
My favorite part is the small drink up party after where the groom puts a banana and two cherries in his crotch and then the bride has to eat the banana from his crotch while groom's friends cheer her on.
But then I guess a stage is not the ultimate in dignity and good taste. Strippers at baby showers? We have our moments. |
Funny how they would do something this embarassing, but some of them won't do PDAs in front of their coworkers, etc. But they would do this banana thing????? |

Yes, this is pretty messed up IMO. Also, what about westerners, especially Hollywood people with lots of money getting married in a cheesy Elvis chapel in Vegas? Pretty bad. Also, the couple in this video were being married by a woman. That's plain wrong IMO. |
