I would say having a good job is better...that's where you'll be spending the majority of your time while you're in Korea. I really liked the area I lived in but hated my job and that put a bit of a damper on my life in Korea.

One positive to living in the boonies is the money savings. If I had lived in Seoul I wouldn't have saved nearly as much money as I did...plus I was only an hour away from Seoul if I was missing good food or shopping or bookstores or whatever.

I definitely agree with good accomodation being important.
