Good luck with that. |
I didn't think before I posted. I need a Korean OS, right? |

I believe it is possible with Vista Ultimate.
I know it can be done with XP but you need to have the language CD and it only works if your XP version is in English to begin with. |

Sorry Incognito about the smartarse reply. It was uncalled for.
Superhero, you may be right if XP was originally in English. I was assuming that the fact that XP is impossible to switch from Korean to English means that the same is true going the other way. |

I really like my KT connection. It's never died on me and I can download HD movies usually in about 30 minutes or so.
The speed that you can get is due to numerous factors, mostly the length of your line from the DSLAM (I assume you are all using DSL). Download speeds drop significantly the longer your line is. Then of course you have local contention. I'm not sure what the contention ratios are for KT but, especially with my connection, they appear to be pretty low. Finally, you have the actual pipespace available at the ISP. They can alter this and give you limited availability from time to time, but they don't do it to me, and I would class myself as a pretty heavy user.
Anyway, yeah, I'm really happy with my service. |

Yeah, that would be a Seoul number, but maybe they can tell my local techs what I want them to do.
Thanks! |

| I've been having problems with Megapass for a few days now...not connecting/slow connection speed/disconnecting...you name it! I've spoken to a few Korean friends and the trouble seems to be nation-wide. I've been with them for 4-5 years now, and have NEVER had a problem, so I'm hoping that things will be sorted out by the time I get back from my vacation. |

I don't run a virus scanner and I hate ZoneAlarm so I don't know what is causing it. I called KT Megapass (props to them for having an English line) and they're coming over tomorrow to take a look at it. They have no idea what is causing it.

Hmmmmmm, I think you better get your house in order before you start pointing fingers at someone else. If you're not even running an AV scanner or firewall, why do you discount that the issue isn't your computer? With that new piece of information is combined with your previous posts, I would be inclined to say that you are not qualified to assess computer issues and that your computer probably is causing the problem. |

When I first started having the problems, I ran AdAware, AVG, and Windows Live Care One. None of which turned up anything which would account for the disconnecting problem, and one of the technicians told me that it had to do with the poor wiring in my apartment complex and not my computer.
Anyway, I am qualified to assess computer issues. Have been since I was seven. That comment really annoyed me. I have a Windows Firewall but I don't run Zone Alarm because it drains resources and gives me a lot of nonsense when I'm playing games.
I don't run AVG because it creates massive latency issues for me when I'm playing online games (it scans each incoming packet). Yes, I have them installed, but I do not have them enabled for the above reasons. I run system scans with all my programs on a regular basis instead of leaving them active. |

Yeah Jaz...take a hike, buddy.
Anyways, so what of your uber knowledge now, so many years later? I mean, a seven year old can say "it's broken" alright (which would be a valid assessment), but can he fix it? |

| Does everybody across the board think Hanaro is better than KT? I keep hearing these things you are complaining about KT and even my landlord's son recommended Hanaro (hanafos). Does KT throttle your download speeds? |

I find it hard to believe that KT are deliberately throttleing your bandwidth as low as 20kb/s.
More likely it is a hardware problem. |
agreed. |
No... if it is a hardware problem, then it doesn't explain why I get disconnected significantly less late at night and significantly more in the morning/afternoon corresponding with what I would think are the peak/off-peak usage hours... |
Same sort of problem I had with my internet.
Modem was cooked.
Hardware problem |

Don't forget the time in the 90's where he managed to install Wolfeinstein onto his monitors BIOS. |
