Point of fact is the US is cheapest for just about anything out there...especially if you live in the right state. Canada on the other hand...well, usually our goods are priced higher. Look at the value of our dollar, yet books are still 30% more money. |
I heard consumers are really dumping bricks these days over the mark up, especially books. Wages tend to run higher in Canada. Although Ontario is $8 and Michigan is $7.40. Not much of a difference. |

| I remember on AFN they had a thing about GIs going to china and coming back with 8 gb Sony thumb drives for an amazing price and turns out they were hacked thumb drives with far less storage capacity. Have you tried to fill you whole thumb drive? |
No it takes the full 32 gb - I just loaded 6 seasons of mash on there.

The kick in the nuts is: cost of living is lower in the States. Taxes are lower, both income and sales.
The Canadian government then screws you when you come back with your cheap goods, you have to pay duty AND GST on the goods.
I was back in Canada when the CDN dollar hit parity and all the retailer overcharging stuff hit the news. I loved the example they gave for the North Face jackets...the exact same jacket was over $100 cheaper in the US...I never knew how bad retailers screwed Canadians until I saw that show. Cars were like 30% cheaper in the States too. That is a large chunk of change on a huge purchase.
Anyways, USA rocks for cheapest goods...their duty free shops have some amazing bargains too.
My favorite bargain is the 1.5 litre bottles of hard booze. Typically sell for $30 US at the duty free shop...back in Canada that is like $60 or more. |

| Where does one get the 16 gb thumb drives in yongsan. I was at Ipark, the older electronics part, and then the little alleys. Nothing bigger than an 8 gb thumb drive. |
