Such perverse ideas! Not having children and all !!!

Hrumphh. Confused

No, they still want kids. They just want other people's kids.

Those of us who really don't want ANY kids...we're the perverse ones.

Holy crap. I've been saying that for years. I can't believe I never saw it. Kudos.

And in all seriousness, I think it's already begun.

I refuse to have kids...but we can adopt? I'm curious how they would respond to this. Generally I hear all this stuff about men wanting to pass on their genetic material, but I believe in letting the bad strains die out. As for reproduction rates, it seems more effective to take some poor kids and raise them rather than just making more. Lastly I have 2 adopted siblings and 2 biological siblings and the adopted ones are happier.
Also I don't like the idea of a pregnant wife at all. So how does one explain this?

Its perfectly reasonable because there are children out there that need a family.

I'm skeptical to the validity of saying adopting is somehow alleviating the corruption of the gene pool since you really don't know where these kids come from. You might know what's wrong with your genes, but theirs...

If you're gonna be all Darwinian about it, isn't an abandoned offspring more likely to be of lower grade than one whose progenitors could and would actually care for? Whether the parents were alcoholics, abusive, mentally inept, or even simply poor.... If something's amiss with the tree, wouldn't it be reasonable to say that something - maybe not the same thing - would be amiss with the apple?

Actually it's quite a movement these days with its own lingo and everything...

the following from wikipedia, on reasons not to have children:

Lack of desire for children
Lack of a compelling reason to have children
General dislike of the behavior of children
Seeing the effects of children on family/friends
Lack of maternal/paternal instincts
Unwillingness to conform to the obligations of socially defined gender roles
Contentment with enjoyment of pets
Belief that childhood is too traumatic
A general dislike or hatred of children

Personal environment and advancement
Not wanting to sacrifice privacy/personal space for children
Not wanting to sacrifice time for children
Not wanting to commit to increased financial responsibility or burden
Belief that parenthood, an irrevocable state, will be disliked
Belief that maintaining a certain level of emotional intimacy and physical intimacy with partner will not be possible with the presence of children
Perceived or actual incapacity to be a responsible and patient parent
Maintaining freedom of personal choice
Prefer to maintain ability to change career or city of residence at short notice (spontaneous mobility)
Belief that childbearing would reduce career advancement

Physical and health concerns
Belief that it is wrong to bring a child into the world if the child is unwanted
Concern for safety of parent or child
The risk that an existing medical condition, such as diabetes, depression or the development of ectopic pregnancy could result in a dangerous or difficult pregnancy, or difficulty in raising the child
Concern that the child would inherit a hereditary disease
Low availability of high quality and affordable childcare
Fear and revulsion towards the physical condition of pregnancy, the childbirth experience, and recovery (for example the erosion of physical desirability).

Belief that it is a generous act not to bring more people into the world
Belief that one can make a greater contribution to humanity through one's work than through having children
Belief that people tend to have children for the wrong reasons
Concern regarding environmental factors and/or overpopulation
Opinion that a devotion to one's career negates good parenting, or that their particular career would prevent them from being a good parent
Antinatalism , including the belief that it is inherently immoral to bring people into the world
No consent can be asked or given
The world is full of suffering, and one cannot ensure that any given person will have a good life
Everyone leaves life through death, therefore by giving birth, one guarantees that death will take place

That's the most significant one. The state needs to get involved because of the problem of low fertility rates.

Regarding the OP, I believe his decision not to pass on his genes is justified. We don't want strands of malformed DNA (recessive traits for lifetimes hidden emerged through evolution) strangulating a child's future. Wise choice.

The other half of the equation is the environment in which the child is raised.

The OP should remain childless.

Also the conversation the OP wants to have with a woman should be
second date material, or at the very least prior to any coitus.

Also have you been to see Dr. Snippy?

For the record, when looked at dispassionately there is nothing visually attractive about a pregnant woman.

Neither is there anything visually unattractive about a pregnant woman, unless of course you're a profoundly jaundiced individual.

Dude, if a woman who wasn't pregnant looked like that would she still be on your shaggable list?

I don't get the idea of a pregnant women being attractive or not

Isn't being pregnant a function? Wouldn't that be natures purpose of a woman being attractive ?

Isn't procreation the end-game of all this fuss about attractiveness, courting and mating? Or is it just for the orgasm and the pretty face? Shocked

males are traditionally attracted to signs of fertility in a woman, which include bigger fun bags and wider hips. Normal males are not attracted by the stick-thin bodies of ten-year-olds. Same thing with women--traditionally attracted to signs of masculinity and virility such as strong jaw, wide shoulders, etc. which are indicators the guy is more likely to be able to drag her off to his cave and keep her safe. this is not really news. So yes, while the individual guy might not think an individual pregnant woman is especially sexy, the facts are that he's still biologically primed to consider her so (particularly if it's HIS pregnant woman). plus the woman has hormones going on which give her better skin, shinier hair, bigger fun bags etc. all of which are designed to be make her more attractive/compelling.

Dude, I know what kind of sites you're downloading from, but trust me, it's a niche market.

"Shaggable" is not the only type of attractiveness.

plus genetically once a woman is pregnant there really is no reason for sex, it's better to spread your genes elsewhere. Just speaking biologically here, not emotionally or socially.
