I used to work at a water utility in the UK.
We had a 'Plain English' course to learn how to write letters to customers, which wouldn't be confusing and filled with jargon.
Probably one of the shortest and best courses I ever did.
We were recommended to use Ariel, 11pt as a very readable font to use for A4 letters. |

Courier New.
Basically any clean font that has a uniform width/space for each character. I think it's from years of looking at/writing code. |
