How does this absolve you from the fact that you are singling him out based on your personal tastes in entertainment? Snoop Dogg not being allowed into the UK is a pretty irrelevant topic. You bringing it up is little more than your typical cane-waving at those darned kids for liking music you don't and showing how out of touch with youth culture you really are.
And here's just how out of touch you are: Those darned kids see Snoop as old and unimportant in their lives as a musician. To them, he's a guy doing reality shows.

Odd that you'd think of absolution, considering your atheism, or do I have you confused with another hardcore cynic? If it's irrelevant, than why waste your time responding to the topic? Or is it that you just can't resist sniping?

Cane waving at age 52? I think not. I notice a lot of hip hop slopsters sport canes though. Yes, I'm out of touch with youth that thinks his glorified ghetto gibberish is musical or cultural. I single him out because he's in the news and feels entitled to perform where he's not wanted.

Reality is what you make of it--isn't that what you po-mo artists insist?

You, of course, have a pulse on all that emanates from the street and I know you love this hip-hop slop. It feeds into your own cynicism. Sorry, but I'm not going to dignify it just because it's contemporary. I loathed heavy metal when I was young for the same reasons. And the only cane I had then was sugar at Xmas.

I was definitely a hard rock and heavy metal fan. I am biased. I think rock is much better than modern rap. Rock, at least, involves many instruments. I really enjoyed listening to Metallica. Do you think rappists tend to get into more trouble then the musicians of the past whether in the genre of soul, rock, or jazz? Do you remember the folks who used to talk about playing heavy metal records backwards? Smile

1- You needed to have it pointed out to you.

2- As is typical for you, your initial post was immediately dismissive of anyone who may not agree with you. ie: You used the "Baby-killer" tactic to give your position a moral authority it didn't have... Nor need for that matter.

3- You're being dishonest about your reasons bringing up the topic. You needed to be called on it.

4- I wanted to see how big of a tool you'd act like once you got called on it. For your response, I'd say you're a weed-wacker. Much bigger than a hoe, but not nearly a lawnmower.

And Steve, I'm not sniping. I'm your conscience.

(And for those of you who support him, try to get beyond evoking freedom of speech to the actual issue at hand here).

Disclaimer: notice I didn't use the words 'music" and "singer' in this post.

I don't support him, I don't like him, I don't see what freedom of speech has to do with it, and I wondering what you consider to be the actual issue at hand. I really don't care if they let him in. The UK has it laws and an appeal process and the question will be decided by a body that is knowledgeable about the law and the actual circumstances of his previous arrest. I do not believe he should receive any special treatment because he is a celebrity and I do not see any evidence that he has been treated differently because he is a celebrity. The UK has an appeals process which I assume is available to anyone. So what? You don't like him or his music? OK , but your opinion of him and his music seems to be irrelevant to whether the UK should let him in.
