It absolutely is NOT better to have your hair cut wet - !!!

Hair when wet is more fragile and weak, the water weakens the bonds holding it together - hair is made of dead material, it is not alive. Think of bread, or paper, and how different these are wet than dry.

If hair is cut wet it is much more likely to suffer damage (broken ends) from uneven cutting on a microscopic level from the blades in the scissors.

People who cut their hair frequently (short hair, as in men) don't notice this so much but for long hair it can be a problem; I only cut my hair about 3 times a year so each cut needs to be a good professional cut - which includes cutting while wet.
virtually all the salons in the U.S. are trained this way and for the reasons I stated. I don't know about other countries but the ones in the U.S. take their cue from Europe so I imagine better salons everywhere would be the same.

I'm confused... Confused

An appointment isn't necessary, but like I said, if you know of a stylist you want or even just walk in and request a specific one, it's better to wait a bit than to just take whoever is available. I once saw someone walk in and get their hair cut by the girl sweeping the floor a few minutes ago. Plus, if you wait around you can check out their magazines and get served some tea or coffee.

I always got my hair cut and colored at an Aveda in America. Anyone know how the prices are for highlights here? Thanks!

I go to a stylist in Edae just infront of the university. Her name is Naomi and she speaks great English. She always gives me a great hair cut. The price is 30,000won. If anyone wants directions let me know.

Just to update on the subject of this thread, the Aveda salon near Gangnam station is closed as of sometime this summer. It was open when I first moved in, but of course, as soon as I decide to actually get a haircut there... Rolling Eyes
