I have no idea how the government or agency of it would be able to cap private tutoring fees. Considering the money is under the table they would have no way of implementing such a thing. |

I think that he may be blowing smoke, because I mentioned, to him, about F-2's only getting paid hours worked (if you are part time) no airfare, pension, housing money, you know, the whole punch bowl without the sherbert. That could be one reason why he said something about the government putting regulations on hourly pay? yeah right, like any government is going to give themselves a pay cut |

I'm not speaking with any authority on this but he MIGHT actually be partially right on this one!
When you say Principal, presumably you're working at a public school. I've heard it said a few times that you cannot work full-time at a public school and do any other job whatsoever, including part-time. This is not a visa regulation but a civil servants regulation (No part-time jobs are standard in a public school contract)...
Can anyone clarify this? Is it true that F2 and F5 visas cannot take extra jobs if they work full-time in a public school? Personally, I work full time at a public school and that is it. I make my money during the day and go home. I value my free time so I don't want another job. Other people might though...
What would the penalties be for a breach of the above? The sack? A fine? Something worse?
I've asked these questions before in similar threads but no-one has replied. Surely someone must have the answers? Ttompatz? Anyone? |

It is true that PUBLIC school teachers (Korean and FTs) are forbidden to hold a 2nd job (education and public servants acts).
Getting sacked would be required as a minimum (and for a K-teacher this alone is enough to keep them in-line).
Prosecution could result but unless there were very exceptional circumstances I don't think it would happen. (Prosecution can also result from breach of the labor standards act and we all know how often that happens).
People who are working in an "after shool program" are NOT included in this restriction (they are not licensed teachers and are not public servants (teaching assistants).
Other than this, I am NOT aware of any LEGAL restriction to prevent an F2/4/5 holder from getting the appropriate licenses to open or work in a study room or as a tutor.
