agreed. At The Drive-In was interesting and Mars Volta is just another technical metal band. They have some interesting stuff but I rather listen to Ruins. |

Give The Bedlam in Goliath, their latest, a listen. As much as I dig the 32-minute orchestrations, TBIG reins it in (somewhat; a lot of the tracks still push 10 minutes), and it is by far the group's best album.
"Goliath" is pure cock. In a good way. |

Long songs are fine if you really need the time to accomplish your goal with it, but sometimes it feels like they make 11 minute songs for the sake of making 11 minute songs.
Still, I kinda like them. |
