I like Korea's version, E-Mart, much better. They don't understaff, and I really like that they actually pay someone just to bow to me every time I go in or out!  |

I heard it was becuase Wal-mart ran their stores like they did back home: crappy, spartan, dirty interiors included. It was also the reason they failed in some European countries along their buisness and/or inventoryu practices(which I guess didn't really work there). |

The salary here is not so much the issue as Wal-Mart's underhanded techniques of exploitation like forced unpaid overtime and union busting. Wal-Mart works people to death treating them like machines. At least, the "uneducated" staff at Bob's hardware get treated with respect not generally being worked to death.
I'll bet there are a lot of housewives from lower income families working themselves to death at Wal-Mart. There seems to be something ethically wrong with this. They're trying to make an honest living on minimum wage.
What I am saying is that even uneducated people deserve some kind of respect. |
To be fair, Wal-mart jobs could be done by monkeys, They're not the only game in town either.....and unions aren't necessarily great for those jobs.
I worked in the drug store section of a grocery store(there is a difference, it rocks)...everybody in the entire store hated the Union....whatever benefits we got in pay were nixed by union dues....mind, you we never saw any advantages as to having a union.
If Wal-mart wants a union, they happy to burden themselves..... |

| DDD workers in Korea make between 1.2- 1 million a month that would be a step up from Wallmart. Working at a BJ bar in Bangkok would be a step up from Wallmart. Being on Mothers Allowance is a step up from Wallmart. Getting a University degree while serving time is a step up from Wallmart. |
