I've spent so many years waiting for a game as good as the Wing Commander games...still waiting...
For me, the Wing Commander series (especially the first couple) and the X-Wing and Tie Fighter games were some of the best games ever made for the PC.
A while back, before I came to Korea, I was looking into a bunch of people independently trying to make new Wing Commander games from the old code. Free downloads and all that. It looked interesting, but they hadn't progressed to full campaigns yet. Might have to check up on how they're doing... |
Too true.
As for the remakes, I believe the remake of Privateer is complete. I'm considering playing that one again even though it's super old now. Was one of my favorite games of all time. |

KOTOR is awesome, the second while not quite as good, is still worth while for any RPG fans.
Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy is the newest of the shooter series I believe (though I am somewhat out of date). Also, by new, I mean like 4years old or something like that. Maybe it's older, but the multiplayer is still well worth while if you have some buddies that are up for it.
Otherwise, battlefront is good if you want something new with decent graphics.

Correct. I forgot about Academy, but it's the same engine as Outcast. It might have even been an expansion or started as an expansion or something. Either way, the graphics are still perfectly acceptable on both of those. That's what I'd look at if I was the OP. |

Wow, sweet. They upgraded the graphics a lot more than I thought. Definitely going to give that a try. Outstanding game, and now the graphics only look 8 years old instead of 15. |

Jedi Outcast and Academy were part of the same series. Academy was the sequel. Both were the sh*t for Star Wars buffs, until the KOTOR series came along. By the way, KOTOR I and II are RPGs, not FPS. Very nice. Both.
Clone Wars was a shooter (3rd person, if memory serves me well). I played it through once, and unlike every other SW game I've ever played, have no intention of ever playing it again. But hey, it's STAR WARS.
I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned the squad based shooter Republic Commando, but that game was goddam fun for a few hours. That's right, you could play through the whole deal in just a few hours, but what brilliant hours!!
No one's mentioned that in Battlefront II you get space battles! Also, you can stomp people's sh*t with the AT-ATs and chicken walkers. |
