Kim Jong Il, is more realistically comparable to Saddamn Hussein, Momosa(?) the leader of the Congo/Zaire, Taliban, etc. Not Hitler.

For another Hitler - think of Stalin (Who actually killed more people than Hitler), Pol Pot, and Milosevic (?).

(edited to spell your name right Ohahakhete - what does that mean btw?)

i dont think jong-il is even comparable to a saddam hussein. i dont believe jong-il's crimes against other nations are comparable to hussein's, although the crimes against his own people most definitely are. NK never waged the kind of brutal war that iraq did against iran, nor did they invade kuwait the way iraq did. the circumstances of the korean war are complex, and to my knowledge it was not a simple matter of the north invading and occupying the south, though i have no illusions about the north's intentions at the time.

perhaps the most telling difference b/w jong-il and hussein is that NK has never been an american ally, whereas for several years iraq was an official US ally to watch over its interests in the middle east. thats the key and most serious point that supporters of the so-called "war in iraq" always missed. hussein's worst crimes of gassing the kurds and iranians were committed w/ US supplied weapons and crucial US support. NK has never had that support. the important point however is that american criticism (totally justified) of NK's human rights problems is incidental. israel's extremely brutal contempt for palestinian and arab human rights doesnt bother the US a whit. america hates NK because they've defied (not always wisely) US wishes for over 50 years.

maybe someday in the distant future if/when israel falls out of favour w/ america and the US is beating the drums of war and justifying a strike w/ israel's possession of "WMD" and their aggressive actions of the past 55 years, we should not be surprised when american and other imperialist pundits show their complete lack of historical memory. who supplies israel? who supplied the mujaheddin who eventually became al-qaeda? who supplied iraq? who supplied turkey to bomb the kurds to bits?

oh ya, ohahakehte is a mohawk name. it means "he has a long road to travel"
