MOM: Do you know Jim Smith?
ME: Sounds familiar but I'm not sure why?
MOM: Did you go to school with him?
ME: UHmmm I don't really remember, why?
MOM: Was he older or younger than you?
ME: I don't know, WHY?
MOM: Me and Grandma went to him and his twin baby daughter funeral on Tuesday:
ME: OH? What happened?
MOM: To who?
ME: To John Smilth!
MOM: Nothing that I know of. Why do you ask?
ME: He seems to be dead!
MOM: He is? When did you hear that?
ME: JUST NOW FROM YOU!!! YOU SAID YOU WENT TO HIM AND HIS TWIN BABY DAUGHTERS FUNERAL ON TUESDAY!
MOM: OHHHH no. His wife delivered his babies 4 months too early and they died.
ME: Why didn't you say that?
MOM: Shocked I don't know...............You know Dennis and Cindy's son is a thing.
ME: MOM! What the hell are you talking about? A thing? A thing? For god sakes shut up!
MOM: OK.

(Later at the dinner table)
MOM: I had to have endoscopy done last summer. The doctor wanted to look at my intestines.
ME: For the love of god. NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR ABOUT YOU GETTING A CAMERA STUCK UP YOUR BUTT AT THE DINNER TABLE!
MOM: Shocked Why????[/quote]

It's unfortunate that your mom is socially awkward. But this is NOT an example that has anything to do with Borderline Personality Disorder.

My mother HAS been diagnosed with Personality Disorder. Whether or not her social awkardness is a result of that I do not know. I just know that having a converstion with her is a total nightmare and she has no idea why. Are you a trained medical professional who can determine if a person has Personality Disorder? I am not. I have only lived most of my life in the same house as someone who does.

Is that not that alzhemers thing when people forget what you just said?
I don't know ... my mum was a bit like that. She'd sort of run a conversation in exasperating circles by bringing in inconsequential and non-related stuff into the mix. She was smart enough. She attended uni while in her 50's getting B's and A's in philosophy. Just an odd personality I guess. Though, I could never quite hold a longish conversation with her.

So, I hear yah.

BPD is viewed within the medical/psychological community as being one of the most difficult personality disorders to treat (that and Multiple Personality Disorder).

Check out Harpeau's link on suggested counsellors, although you will be hard pressed to find someone specializing in Personality Disorder treatment. I would also suggest researching books, and internet forums on BPD.

In my experience, BPD (more common in women-Antisocial Personality Disorder more common in men), and Narcissitic Personality Disorder has been common with some Korean women. Perhaps, due to the limited social boundaries, sexual and physical exploitation of women, and need for instant gratification.

Do people with BPD just ignore you for days or weeks for no real reason?
Or blame you for things that aren't really your fault?
