Actually the Krups was bought during a trade show trip to Germany less than 1 1/2 years ago, and it has seen very little use. We pulled it out of the cabinet and didn't clean the dust off it. |

Thanks for the reply Dallas. I had a Krups once before that clunked out after a couple of years, that's why I was asking. I do enjoy espresso and would be interested in buying it. Would you take 20,000 for it?

Honestly since that machine originally cost so much more --think I'll stick to the 25,000 price.....But I'll clean it up |

Fair enough Dallas. I'd like to buy it from you. You're on the other side of Seoul from me. How can I contact you? When is a good time for me to stop by?

I really like this DVD player. I was thinking about buying the Oppo DV-981HD but I guess I'll wait until they sell a BD player. By any chance, do you have the componet cables for the TKDS player?
Componet cables are hard to find in the Yongsan electronic market. |
Just curious why you'd buy the 981 over the 980H? I own the 980H, which is cheaper, and man... great picture. I've also got a PS3 40gb. Sadly, Korean prices on stand-alone Blu-ray players are terrible. The PS3 40gb is about 330,000 now. |
No particular reason, I know the 981HD uses the Faroudja chip for the upconversion which might have slightly better picture quality than the 980H. If that's not the case than 980H would be my choice.
The PS3 might be adequate for Blue Ray but I heard the upconversion for standard DVD's is sub par. I'll wait for Oppo to come out with a Blue Ray player, hopefully it will be out next year.

I own both a PS3 and the 980H. The Oppo is better, but the upconversion on the PS3 is quite good, actually. In fact, the difference is close enough that I probably wouldn't purchase the Oppo if I already owned the PS3. My reason for purchasing the Oppo was to use it as an SACD player. My 40gb PS3 isn't able to play SACD's.
In any case, I enjoy both machines. |
