You're still carrying that psychic damage aren't you.
Have you considered rebirthing therapy? It can be very liberating in the way it frees you from past trauma.
Either that or a native american indian sweatlodge ritual. |

No. I knew he was a jackass after week one. I dislike people in positions of academe who have absolutely no business being there.

Probably my main problem is I never feel I should follow what a school wants. My thinking is very focused and narrow in scope. |
Just out of interest, what is your interest? |
My interest is somewhere in pure literature and pure nature. I try to write using these concepts. For some reason the pure nature thing seems to cancel the presence of literature or society even, so I'm left with no characters or words. Not very funny. Oh well.........
Thanks for everyone's input.
I think I decided to do a one year Master's back home. It will be a nice one year vacation from Korea in a small town Canada rather than city.
I never put much thought into this before, but I think you guys are right about the library stuff. What a hassle it would be to acquire the resources from Korea.
I hope I quoted properly???? |

Just checked my transcript, yeah got a B- in his class too. Maybe everyone gets that mark. Sadly I never got an A in any of my English classes I was pretty much your B average type guy. Sure I got A's on essays, but for some reason the concept of an 8month course just doesn't appeal to me so I start off strong in September, but by February I usually am sick to death of the same classes.
I got so bored I went to UofOtt. my last year to take some English Lit. courses that weren't offered at our school. Mystery Literature was definately a COOL class to take. Also only 1 semester, definately my type of course. |

If you think too hard about words, they become meaningless. Yes, contemplation of nature renders words spurious too. It takes a special genius to be one with nature & literature too. Beyond me. |

Maybe I was a late bloomer and had other intrinsic motivations. I actually preferred the year long courses, as I can't write an essay all the quickly. As far as February and the solstice season, yeah I got the blues [that Seasonal Affect thingy on Harpeau's website] but that's when I hit the gym the strongest-otherwise, I'd be on the couch watch the tube about 4 nights a week with beer, because I'm not down with winter sports.
I never took any courses at Ottawa.
They do have rowing machines.

Me too...!!! (Y) I don't think a little idolization of Bob Marley during university (if you know what I mean) causes loss of Y chromosome. |

I took Children's Lit too, and I think Lovejoy doesn't give A's. Seriously man, I wrote some damn good essays, and I thought I kicked arse on the exam, yet only came out with a B.
My highest was a B+ in British Lit. I would have scored an A, but I think I didn't do so good on the exam. All my essays were As.
Now that I am older, I think about going back to university. I don't know if I could stomach English Lit. again though.
I never got an F, but I did score a D+ in the 2nd Year American Lit class. The bastard hit me with a multiple choice exam, and I failed very very very horribly. Even with the curve, I still had only 40%! Bastard was almost as bad as Gildea's exam.
I think Gildea's exam was nuts, something like:
Explain where the following passage if from, who the author is, and the significance of it to the work:
I walk alone in a field. (this is just an example of one sentence)
Like wtf kind of exam is that...nuts I tell ya. |

The Economics I should have known better and dropped it. First year, got caught in the itv trap. Worst course to do that.
Funny. Up until 4th year, I struggled with essays if you call B+ strugging and the essays were my strength. For Brit Lit II I got 89% on the midterm [89 is an A, and 90% is A+] and 84% on the final [84 is A-, 85% is A] so thanks a lot!!
I also got one D-. Hence my selling out to get higher grades and not studying the Romantics.
I also took Rennaissance Lit 18.332 with Barbara Garner. She's not a jackass like Kevin Gildea, shes just getting on in years. I had to bust my chops for a .5 credit A there. Nice enough woman, but was not going to take any of her seminars.
Kevin Gildea, retire. |

Wow now I am depressed this early morning...pretty said I couldn't score an 80% on an exam...guess it all comes down to the fact I can't do full year courses well
I wonder how many people read this thread and go:"who is this Gildea guy they keep talking about?"
Maybe yahoo is doing a lot of Kevin Gildea lookups...for the uneducated he would be under the dictionary as many negative adjectives |

Everyone has thier strengths. I was paranoid about getting behind in the half year courses so I did all the reading for those first.
I always found essays harder than exams. Makes me wonder why I did so well in Cameron's course. |

Can I put my hand up? I liked most of my lecturers, except one useless *beep*, who couldn't teach you how to find your ass with both hands if he tried. I gave myself an I.C on that baby. You know how the only stupid question is supposed to be the one you don't ask? With him, if you needed to ask questions from his supposedly brilliant lecture, you were retarded. Which is a pity as it could have been really interesting - persian and greek history. |
