I did a semester at Ewha last year.
Didn't take the language program though. I took classes in English with Korean students and other international students. The Korean girls all spoke fluent or near-fluent English, many with no accent at all. The teachers were good for the most part, but the classes were much easier than back home.
The international dorm is awesome, totally new and clean and modern. Single rooms have private bathrooms. All rooms have nice balconies. There is no curfew for the international students' dorm, unlike the Korean students' dorm (or so I heard). The only problem with the dorm when I was there was the noise and foolishness caused by the male international students there, who drank 6 nights a week and made bets about which one of them would be able to bang one of the Japanese girls first.
Meals in the cafeteria are good and really cheap. The kimbap in the international offices building is really good.
Feel free to PM me with any specific questions. I'd be happy to help you out. |
Costs? Requirements? Were you there on a scholarship? Pics of the rooms? |
You can get most of those answers here except for your question about the scholarship. I'm also interested to know whether or not you get a scholarship, danby. |

| To my knowledge you can obtain a scholarship for following semesters after good attendance and scores. But scholarships issued from your home university? Not sure about that... |

Hi everyone. How goes it? I just have some questions about Ewha and I was hoping some of you can answer them, or know someone who can. I'm looking into studying Korean at Ewha over the summer and I've been scouring the internet but I can't seem to find any testimonials or personal stories about any experiences there.
So, have any of you guys studied there (not just over the summer, any semester)? Do you know anyone who has? If so, how were the dorms and meals? Were the classes of good quality or a waste of time?
Thanks a bunch! |
A friend of mine went there for a summer Korean culture thing, it was all paid for by the university. She had an absolute blast.
They were offering a scholarship to our school recently, to take a girl over on an exchange, provide free housing, food, airfare, and no extra tuition costs. It was only available to girls at my school, so I tried to tell people but nobody wanted to leave their boyfriends. |

I was on an extremely generous scholarship from my home university.
I don't remember all the costs, but they're all on Edae's website. The dorm was around 2 million won for one semester (4 months). Can't remember the tuition.
I'll post some pics of the dorm tomorrow when I have some more time. |
