Daegu has lots. A good one is behind Migliore. If you are facing the entrance to Migliore, go left and take a right down the street that takes you to Yankee shijang (daegu's black market). After about a block, look on the left hand side for Sauna, written somewhere. Should be to the right of a samgyupsal place on the main floor.
Also, if you are the whorin' type and know where the streetwalkers and glasshouses are on Jagalman-gu(sp), across the street on the Daegu station side (or if you are coming from Daegu station, come out, go left and walk 3 minutes), you'll see a jimjilbang. That's a good one, too.
My favorite one in Seoul, is the big one behind Seoul Station. If you come out of Seoul station, go left on the upper platform to Bennigan's. Make a left before Bennigans down the stretch that's between the restaurant and the station. Veer right and you'll come to some stairs. At the bottom of the stairs, go right and walk across the street, under the overpass. When you are on the other side, look to the right side and look for a driveway going up a small hill to a parking lot. Up there is a huge jimjilbang (sorry for the directions. there's probably an easier way, but I can't describe it in the same detail)
Busan, however, has the sauna-lovers dream. The disneyland of spas. Touted as the biggest in Asia. So good that if I was looking for work in Busan, a hogwan's adjacency to this place would play some factor in where I would sign. Not 24 hours, though, but they do have sleeping rooms. It is massive. Hot pools everywhere, of all different minerals, and healing extract. Individual waterfalls that cascade down to you to massage your back. 4-5 different steam rooms. Multi-head showers that get all over your body. Immaculate. So big that you can have over a 100 pairs of eyes checking out your hairy chest and the size of your nether-regions at any given moment. Great gym facilities, too. It's called Heoshimchung or simply Dongnae Spa. Here's a good travel report with directions from another foreigner. Best bet is to get into a taxi and say Heoshimchung, however. Tricky to get to for the 1st time. |

Adding to this for Seoul, you must check out the jimjilbang on the B8 level of the Mesa Fashion Mall in Namdaemun Market. It's not Heosimchung-class or anything, but it's got the best sleeping facilities that I've seen, plus a great spa. I'd rank this one above and beyond the big one behind Seoul Station, for the main reason that the latter is an absolute zoo for families, particularly on weekends. |

I think one of the best ones is Helix Spa Jimjilbang on Line number 6 Hwarangdae station just outside Exit #3. It's on the 4th floor (5th as well, but need to enter from the 4th).
It's very foreigner friendly. Has most of the toys mentioned above. In addition, many sauna rooms with different stuff on the wall. An O2 type room, the cold arctic ridge room, a DVD movie theatre with theatre seats and large screen, a gym, a restaurant, an outdoor patio, etc. (You can bring a moderate amount of beer out on the patio, but you got to keep things mellow. It would be a drag if they cracked down on it.) The O mija cha (tea) is awesome! I love it unseatened.
They have sleeping rooms that are pretty good, though a tad noisy at times. The whirlpools are very nice. It's very modern (10 months old) and conveniently located next to the subway. 6,000 won ~ 7,000 won after 8pm. Very family orientated, but very busy on weekends & holidays. Been there with Hoju Candy, Kiwiboy, Peppermint and many other friends. I'm sure that you won't be dissappointed. |

I noticed late Feb. that Itaewonland was temporarily (I hope) closed. They didn't have a reopening date written on the door... are they still open? |

In Myeong-dong there's a nice jjimjilbang called HuRest in the same building as the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf on the 17th floor
It's 5000 won during the day and 10000 after 9pm. 1000 won to rent your togs.
Really nice facilities, herbal steam room, green tea bath, cold pool. DVD room, Yellow Mud Room, Charcoal Room, Ice Room, Oxygen Room, rooms for sleeping, auto-massage beds and chairs along with a sports masseuse. The sauna rooms have windows that have a nice view of the city.
The best part is that it's really quiet with dim lighting and no children. It's almost never busy. Great if you want a restful evening. |

i went there last night after reading this post. it was great! very nice and relaxing. they raised prices though. it was 6000 won plus 1000 won more for the clothes.
edit: oh yeah, the ice room wasn't very cold at all. that's my only complaint though. |

Nice thread dig.
I haven't posted in this thread since the wiki was started, so I should add that we have a growing page on jjimjilbangs here. |
