Nobody will ever be able to discount Christopher Reeve's bravura performance as Superman. He did a Peter Sellers, and sold a difficult couple of parts just as good (and in my opinion, better) as Downey Jr.
That being said, unless Watchmen is 3 hours long, it can't possibly be better than the book, but I think it'll be competent. |

I was pretty sure Christopher Reeve wasn't at all well known before Superman, so I checked IMDB.com, and it's true...Superman was actually his second movie.
It did have some big names in it, though--Marlon Brando got a load of cash to do a bit part, and Gene Hackman was pretty famous by then as well. |

| That trailer is pretty damn awesome. And speaking of Billies, that's Billy Corgan's voice. Is that a new or old Smashing Pumpkins song? Awesome. |

| I was geekin' out on rottentomatoes.com and read that the song they use in the trailer is a smashing pumpkins B-side from the single they released to go with the god-awful 'Batman and Robin' movie. |

christian bale is easily the worst batman in history. were you folks watching the same movie as me? he sounds drunk when he's all dressed up, kinda like a mr. lahey (trailer park supervisor) on speed. i actually laughed out loud near the very end of dark knight. laughing AT a movie (instead of with it) indicates a piece of crap film. without ledger, dark knight would have been a total write-off.
having said that, watchmen looks pretty cool! |

You obviously never saw BATMAN AND ROBIN, with the worst Batman ever. Unless you're into that sort of thing.
Not that there's anything wrong with that!
The only reason his voice has been even mentioned lately as an issue is due to some wannabe feature writer at USA TODAY picking the story.
Ledger wasnt all that great, actually. And they accuse Nicholson of overacting. He may get a sympathy nomination for the Oscar, but that's about it.
I'm still rooting for the city of Chicago to get a Best supporting Actor nomination for its role in the movie. Though I suppose the city's urban planners would receive that statue. |

I also enjoy how someone can discount a film that could possibly become the highest grossing film ever simply do to a character's voice being pushed.
But you're correct. It is horrible- and its' box office performance surely supports your well-thought opinion. On a related note, I didnt know that French people were now allowed to be English teachers in Korea. Will the madness never end!?!?! |

Speaking of comic adaptations...I didn't even know anybody was thinking about doing it, but apparently Garth Ennis' "the Preacher" was very close to being made for HBO. But, perhaps fortunately, the plug has been pulled.

Why 'fortunately?' Because the director was the same guy who made the "Ghost Rider" and "Daredevil" movies. Better to not make it into a series at all than let that hack have at it, i think. |
