OP you forgot Tonic.

Used to be common for soda in parts of New England.

As a kid I remember "What kind of tonic do you want?"

Coke guy. Soda and pop (and sodapop) are interchangeable. Coke is not.

I shoot the one who prefers "sneakers" over "gym shoes".

Seriously, though, I grew up in Popland and then went to university deep in Soda territory. My first day there, I asked the RA for my dorm where I could find a pop machine. His face grew quite stern, and he said, "A what?"

I said, "Pop machine."

He said, "Oh...down in the basement."

Turned out he thought I said "pot" machine.

My grandparents also called all cereal Corn Flakes, except it would sound more like 'cone flay.' So funny. They're from Puerto Rico.

I also say gym shoes! Are you from Chicago?

On another note, I love how Southerners say water. They say "woe-dah." Well, at least my friend from North Carolina does.

I'm back home in Canada this summer and asked what "soda pop" the restaurant had and the waitress went "Huh? Oh, you mean POP." Rolling Eyes

I always teach my Korean students that the word is "soda pop" but that "soda" or "pop" is much more common as the abbreviated usagen depending where.

Technically, it's a carbonated beverage. Pop is better. I feel sorry for your kids, teaching them sodapop. Sounds so cutesy.

"Can I have some sodiepop please????"

Saying "sodapop" is pretty annoying as well. At least it isn't just plain wrong like calling everything coke though.

Then again, I call all tissue paper "kleenex." But that's a little more understandable considering it's the only actual brand.

Kleenex the only brand?

You haven't tried Puffs with Lotion, have you? They rawk so hard that I'm shipping them to myself in advance. Don't catch bird flu without them or your nose will be very sore indeed.

Nope, I've never seen anything but generic and kleenex. Sounds kinda gross actually, but I may have to try these lotion things just to see what they're like.

Who the hell says "Soda"?

As in, "hey, toots! How 'bout you and me go grab some Sodas from the Tasty Freeze, then take a spin up to Make Out Point so I can fondle your goodie-goods!"

In other words, teenage girl molestors with names like "The Fonz" are the only ones who say soda.

Sarsaparilla, Root Beer and Birch Beer.

Orange Soda, Cherry Soda, Cream Soda, Grape Soda.

Lemon Lime Soda, and of course I've only seen this in Korea, Milk Soda.

You're from a red or blue state, right...or not from the States at all?
