I'm a strong fiscal conservative.
The 'politics of Politics' is unfortunately sad and depressing to see who is informed or not informed regarding Politics.
Uninformed listen to Republican progoganda about Republicans being fiscal conservatives, and pretty much all of that 'library stuff' and 'Economist' type magazines and anything with the economy, etc. shows the Democrats are significantly more fiscal conservative. |

| You can't forget about the Congress. Reagen was able to cut taxes but had a difficult time trying to cut spending with a Democratic Congress. |
Fair enough, but how much did he spend on nukes?

| As for Bill Clinton, he had to contend with Newt Gingrich's Republican Congress. |
Clinton got nothing but bile for balancing the budget.
I think that should be a HUGE consideration when talking about fiscal conservatives.
When, for all their screaming about Democrats spending, have Republicans ever been about having a balanced budget?
How can one be fiscally conservative while deficit spending?
As the cartoon shows, the GOP is essentially the anti-tax party rather than being fiscally conservative at all. Being anti-tax is all good when garnering votes from trilobytes, but it's really quite infantile and long overdue for its comeuppance. |
