Europe should match American contributions.

As an American, I'm so sick it being our responsibility (North America's) to hold up NATO, to show leadership in squarely European conflicts, and basically foot the bill for military prowess.

Nope. I say we let America do the military prowess thing, and we stay the hell out. Seems like the smart play.

Yeah, okay. Well, I'm sure you've thought of everything.

Europe's total GDP is on par with North America's. I want to see more European military investment. Europe's voice should, aggregated, be equal to North America's, but they should also pay the same amount. Now it doesn't have to be the current ratio as set by America, America could afford to spend less on defense and have Europe match it. But c'mon.

I agree in that the US should decrease its military spending to match that of Europe.

Okay, they've now announced 500 million Euros ($700 million) in aid, and other aid from individual countries should put it past $1 billion.

Plus a 200-member ceasefire monitoring team.

Thats a horrible idea. hoorid horrid idea.

Youd have to cut everyones pay in the military drasticlly, which is a obvious neg, cut benfits programs, cut R and D which would hurt the nation as a whole since in recent history alot of the most dvanced technologies we have were created by military R and D and filtered into the civilian world as well.
